Under the baton of Maestro Hermie Ranera, the PPO’s delightful repertoire of light classics and pops are a sure treat for the whole family and audiences from all walks of life, especially with the mountain top venue which commands a dramatic panoramic view of the Laguna Lake and the surrounding towns.
The programme includes the rousing Orpheus in the Underworld by Jacques Offenbach with its Infernal Gallop , more popularly known as the “Can-Can;” Khachaturian’s Masquerade Suite, with its famous Waltz theme; and the fun Fascinating Drums, one the most famous compositions of Ted Huggens for band and percussion. Selections from the musical Les Miserables will also be performed, as well as one of Piazolla’s celebrated Tango Nuevos, the Libertango; and Ryan Cayabyab’s arrangement of Filipino folk songs entitled Ilocandia. The Wrecking Ball Fantasy is a surprising symphonic twist to a pop hit song.
