๐ช๐ต๐ผ ๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ป ๐ถ๐ ๐ฎ ๐๐ฟ๐๐ฒ ๐ต๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ผ?
Are they only those whose names are written in our history books? Or can heroism also be found in the ordinary Filipino?
As we honor the heroes of our history, may we also remember what made their lives worthy of remembrance. Andres Bonifacio, one of the foremost figures of the Philippine Revolution, called upon Filipinos to unite and challenge colonial rule through the Katipunan, even if it meant great personal cost. For him, love of country was not merely a spoken ideaโit was a commitment to serve, to stand with others, and to sacrifice for the freedom of the nation.

This August 31, we honor those who fought for our freedom, those who continue to stand for our rights, and those who work toward a better future for the nation. The circumstances may have changed, but the willingness to work for something greater than oneself remains just as meaningful today.
At UPLB IESO, we believe that heroism can manifest in even the littlest of actions. It lives in the farmer who helps feed the nation, the teacher who shapes future generations, the frontliner who aids the community, the fisherfolk who sustains families, the journalist who seeks the truth, and countless Filipinos who serve through science, the humanities, the arts, and beyond.
To all those who continue to serve and work toward a better Philippines, may this day remind us that our nation is built not only by those remembered in history, but also by the people who continue to show up for it every day.
