Central to this year’s theme: “𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝗚𝗘𝗡𝗘𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗲: 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲,” we delve on our generation’s most pressing issue: our climate crisis. As NIGQC 2026 unfolds, we aim to immerse our youth on the issue of climate change, and how we can use our knowledge in genetics and biotechnology to help protect life for GENErations to come. 🌳🌊

Organized by 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝗣𝗟𝗕 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆, this year’s NIGQC will be a one-day event comprising of the major genetics quiz contest, and minor events rooted on creativity and scientific knowledge. ✍️

Kailangan ba ng napakalaking sakripisyo upang maituring na isang bayani?

Kadalasan, nakaakibat ang salitang "bayani" sa mga dakilang gawa at makasaysayang ambag. Ngunit hindi lamang dito nasusukat ang kabayanihan. Ang tunay na kabayanihan ay nagmumula sa sinseridad ng hangarin, matibay na paninindigan, at tapat na malasakit sa kapwa at bayan.
Kaya ngayong Araw ng mga Bayani, kaisa ang UP Society of Agricultural Engineering Students (UP SAGES) sa paggunita at pagpaparangal sa lahat ng bayaning Pilipino—sa mga nag-alay ng buhay para sa kalayaan, sa mga nagbuwis ng sarili para sa kapakanan ng nakararami, at sa mga patuloy na naglilingkod sa bayan sa tahimik at simpleng paraan.
Nawa’y magsilbing paalala ang araw na ito na ang kabayanihan ay hindi lamang isang alaalang nakatala sa kasaysayan, kundi isang patuloy na panawagan sa kasalukuyan. Sa ating sariling kaparaanan, may kakayahan tayong maglingkod, tumulong, at mag-iwan ng kabutihang magsisilbing gabay at inspirasyon para sa iba.
Mabuhay ang mga bayani. Mabuhay ang kabayanihan. Mabuhay ang Pilipinas!

The UP Society of Agricultural Engineering Students (UP SAGES) proudly congratulates our esteemed alumnus, Engr. Edilberto D. Elegado, on being named the UPAA Distinguished Alumni Entrepreneurship Awardee for Entrepreneurship and Food Technology by the UP Alumni Association (UPAA)! 🎉

At the 2026 UPAA Awards Ceremony held on August 15, 2026, 67 outstanding alumni, chapters, and multi-generational families were recognized for their exceptional achievements and contributions. Among the eight distinguished UPLB alumni awardees is Engr. Elegado, whose remarkable journey continues to embody the spirit of excellence and innovation. 🏅

A BS Agricultural Engineering graduate of 1969 and one of the pioneer members of UP SAGES, Engr. Elegado has transformed his technical expertise and entrepreneurial vision into a successful agro-industrial enterprise. His contributions demonstrate how agricultural engineering can extend beyond the classroom and create meaningful impact in society. 🌱⚙️

This International Humanitarian Law Month, amid the intensifying militarization in rural areas, many farming communities are experiencing intimidation, psychological warfare, and human rights violations aimed at driving them from their lands and taking away their land.
To support the struggle of Indigenous Peoples, a farmers’ market (“bagsakan”) is currently being held in front of the CHE Building to support the local products of our Indigenous Mangyan and Dumagat communities.
