𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗮𝘀 𝗻𝗮 𝗣𝗮𝗴𝗽𝘂𝗽𝘂𝗴𝗮𝘆 𝘀𝗮 𝗺𝗴𝗮 𝗕𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻𝗶 𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻!

Noong Agosto 1896, pinunit ng mga Katipunero ang kanilang mga sedula—isang hayag na pagtalikod at pag-aaklas laban sa pang-aabuso ng kolonyalismong Espanyol. Ang makasaysayang Sigaw ng Rebolusyon ang nagpasimula ng ating pakikibaka para sa pambansang kalayaan.

Subalit sa paglipas ng panahon, madalas nating nalilimutan ang tunay na kahulugan ng sakripisyo ng mga nagbuwis ng buhay para sa Inang Bayan.

Ang kabayanihan ay hindi nagtatapos sa mga pahina ng aklat ng kasaysayan. Libo-libong bayani ang walang pangalan sa mga bantayog—mga aktibista, organisador, tagapagtanggol ng karapatang pantao, mamamahayag, at ordinaryong mamamayang patuloy na tumitindig laban sa mga rehimeng pumapaitaas sa pang-aabuso, nagpapairal ng pasismo, at nagpapabaya sa mga nasa laylayan. Sila ang mga makabagong bayani na patuloy na nakikibaka para sa katarungang panlipunan, tunay na demokrasya, at pambansang soberanya.

Itinatag ang Araw ng mga Bayani sa bisa ng Act No. 3827 noong 1931, at kalaunang inilipat sa huling Lunes ng Agosto sa ilalim ng Republic Act No. 9492 noong 2007. Ngunit higit pa sa pagiging opisyal na holiday, ang araw na ito ay isang paalala at panawagan: ang kalayaan ay hindi isang biyaya lamang na basta nakamit, kundi isang tungkulin na dapat patuloy na ipinaglalaban.

Kaisa ang The UPLB Pre-Law Society sa pagbibigay-pugay sa lahat ng bayani ng dantaon—mula sa mga nagpaalab ng Rebolusyong 1896 hanggang sa mga makabagong bayaning patuloy na nagtatanggol sa karapatang pantao at katarungan sa gitna ng panggigipit.

Nawa’y magsilbing hamon ang kanilang kadakilaan upang tayo man ay tumindig, maglingkod sa bayan, at makiisa sa pakikibaka ng mamamayan.

Ito ang mga katagang binitawan ng kaanak ng isa sa mga Desaparecidos.

Mula sa rehimeng Marcos Sr. hanggang sa kasalukuyang administrasyong Marcos Jr., patuloy ang pasistang estado sa sapilitang pagdukot at pagpapakawala sa ating mga mamamayan. Sa bawat nagdaang gobyerno—mula sa 759 na kaso sa ilalim ng diktaturyang Marcos, 27 sa rehimen ni Aquino, at 24 sa madugong 'War on Drugs' ni Duterte—hindi kailanman nahinto ang pasismo ng estado laban sa mga estudyante, magsasaka, katutubo, at mga ordinaryong mamamayan.

Kahit naipasa ang Anti-Enforced or Involuntary Disappearance Act of 2012 (RA 10353) upang protektahan ang mamamayan at panagutin ang mga may sala, nananatiling walang ngipin ang batas sa harap ng mismong gobyernong lumalabag dito. Sa ilalim lamang ng kasalukuyang administrasyon ni Marcos Jr., hindi bababa sa 15 panibagong kaso ng sapilitang pagkawala ang naitala.

Mula sa mga magsasakang sina Dado Sanchez at Alfred Hilado sa Negros, hanggang sa mga environmental defenders at organisador na sina James Jazmines, Felix Salaveria Jr., Dexter Capuyan, at Bazoo de Jesus—lahat sila ay biktima ng sistematikong panggigipit sa mga nagtatanggol sa lupang ninuno, kalikasan, at karapatang pantao.

Sa Pandaigdigang Araw ng mga Desaparecidos, mariing kinokondena ng The UPLB Pre-Law Society ang patuloy na pandurukot at pag-atake ng reaksyonaryong estado sa karapatang pantao. Ang sapilitang pagkawala ay hindi lamang kwento ng statistical na datos; ito ay buhay na trahedya ng mga pamilyang ipinagkakaitan ng hustisya at kasagutan.

Ang bawat kaso ng pagdukot ay tuwirang paglapastangan sa dignidad at demokrasya. Hangga’t may mga desaparecidos at hangga't walang nananagot sa mga mamatay-tao at mandarambong, mananatiling huwad ang kalayaang ipinagmamalaki ng bansang ito.

Hindi sapat na sabihing "𝗜 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁." Participants explored the fundamentals of paralegal work, critical legal research, and career, advocacy, and law, put their skills into practice through a case digest workshop, and gained meaningful insights on grassroots advocacy through PAMALAKAYA Navotas, highlighting the realities of local fisherfolk and the importance of protecting their rights and welfare. 📚📄
