HEADS UP, ASPIRING DOST SCHOLARS!👋

The Department of Science and Technology–Science Education Institute has announced that applications for the 2027 DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarships cycle will open on August 17, 2026.

The upcoming cycle is expected to cover students entering college in Academic Year 2027–2028, particularly those graduating from Grade 12 during School Year 2026–2027.

Once the application period begins, students may apply through the official DOST-SEI scholarship portal.

The Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES) is a government grant-in-aid programme established under Republic Act No. 10931 to help qualified students cover college costs and other education-related expenses.

The programme supports priority students enrolled in state universities and colleges, CHED-recognised local universities and colleges, and private higher education institutions, depending on the applicable prioritisation rules and available funding.

TES support may also extend beyond graduation. Beneficiaries who complete degree programmes that require a professional licence may qualify for assistance when taking their board or licensure examination.

Through TES-3B, eligible TES graduates may receive a one-time reimbursement of up to ₱8,000 for qualified examination-related expenses. These may include application and examination fees, review-centre fees, notarial charges, insurance premiums, and documents required for the licensure examination.

Graduates who plan to apply for reimbursement should keep their official receipts and coordinate with the TES focal person or designated office of their higher education institution. Claims are processed through the school and remain subject to the required documents, existing guidelines, and available funds.

Because claiming procedures and documentary requirements may vary, students and graduates are encouraged to confirm the latest guidelines with their school or the appropriate CHED-UniFAST regional office.

TES UPDATE📣

Applications for the Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES) are now opening in select universities and colleges for Academic Year 2026–2027.

TES is a grant-in-aid program under UniFAST that helps support the full or partial cost of tertiary education for qualified Filipino students enrolled in State Universities and Colleges, CHED-recognized Local Universities and Colleges, and private Higher Education Institutions.

Under the current UniFAST information, TES benefits start at ₱20,000 per academic year for students in SUCs and LUCs, and ₱27,000 per academic year for students in private HEIs, subject to prioritization and availability of funds. Additional benefits may also apply for qualified persons with disabilities and board or licensure exam takers.

For AY 2026–2027, UniFAST lists priority categories that include enrolled students from households in the most updated Listahanan, or applicable DSWD-certified lists and other qualified priority groups, subject to ranking and fund availability.

Unlike some scholarship programs with one centralized public application portal, TES application schedules and procedures may vary depending on the school. Some higher education institutions have already started posting their own application announcements, while others may release separate instructions through their scholarship office, student affairs office, registrar, or official page.

Students who want to apply are advised to monitor the official announcement of their own school, as deadlines, requirements, application links, and submission procedures may differ per institution.
