The Red Cross Youth Council (RCYC) participated in a Basic News writing and Press release Workshop for school organization that aims to nurture the leader's understanding in skills in news writing and teach them how to collect, edit, and share news to the media.
The RCYC officers, led by Princess Kyle S. Papa, President, joined an interactive and knowledgeable discussion as they learned basic news writing, together with other officers.
The workshop was conducted by Mr. Jopert B. Lozada, School Paper Advicer and Ms. Desiree B. Alegre, Officer-in-Charge and School Information Coordinator, held at library office of Jongo NHS on October 18,2024.
In the workshop, they discussed the fundamentals of news writing which covered; the proper way of news writing, creating a strong main lead, tips on making a headline, gathering information, new sources, and arranging information from most to least important using the inverted pyramid, and social media management that tackled; maintaining the page of their organization, creating a safe and welcoming page, posting appropriate content, fostering meaningful interactions, and managing the pages' privacy and security.
The RCYC officers collaborated with different organizations including Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG), Youth Entrepreneurship Cooperativism in School (YECS), Barkada Kontra Droga (BKD), Youth Environmental School Organization (YES-O), and Sports Club Officers (SCO) during the workshop proper.
