Before the training - workshop started, Ma'am Lorenza Hazel Ruiz, Principal IV of Lopez West Elementary School Building I, associated the activity to the Biblical Account of Noah , building an ark to protect his family and all living things from a tremendous flood that God sent to destroy all creatures on the land, it is the same way why a contingency plan is made to help schools prepare to respond to emergencies and minimize negative impacts.
According to Sir Leonilo Capellan, the president of the LWD School Head Association, CP serves as essential for addressing the vulnerabilities in the education sector ensuring that equitable education is consistently offered in the face of both man-made and natural disasters.
The training objectives were covered by Sir Joseph Jubilo, Head Teacher I of San Francisco B Elementary School. He provided the legal basis and details about disaster preparedness, vulnerability management, ensuring equitable education, creating preparedness guidelines, and defining the roles and responsibilities of teachers in creating contingency plans.
The speakers of the training were the ten select school heads who were knowledgeable with the CP forms of the DepEd-provided contingency plan. Sir Brodie Hayes Flores talked about CP Form 1 Hazard Analysis, Maโam Rowena Valencia tackled the CP Form 2 Anatomy of the Hazard, Maโam Arline Samson discussed about CP Form 3A Scenario Generation for Natural Hazard, Maโam Anabella Razona shared CP Form 3B Scenario Generation for Human Hazard, Maโam Venus Samson discoursed CP Form 4A Affected Population, and Sir Dennis Sarcino conferred CP Form 4B Breakdown of Affected Population.
In the afternoon, the discussion was continued with Sir Joel Rosales who shared CP Form 5A Cluster Identification, Maโam Vilma Oxales talked about CP Form 5B Summary of Cluster Identification, Maโam Regina Noel tackled CP Form 6 Response Activities, Sir Roberto Reyes discoursed CP Form 7 Resource Inventory, Sir Melquiades Vilar conferred CP Form 8 Resource Projection, Maโam Lorenza Hazel Ruiz discussed CP Form 9 Resource Gap Summary, and Maโam Norberta Valencia shared CP Form 10 Emergency Operation Center.
At the conclusion of the training, Sir Marlo Valencia, District DRRM Deputized Officer, thanked the participants from the 23 elementary schools and encouraged them to take the initiative in empowering students, staff, offices, and schools to ensure safety and learning continuity; establishing a strong School Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (SDRRM) team.
