STUDENT WELLNESS: Health, guidance teams deploy 'CARS' to spot at-risk youth

LLORENTE, Eastern Samar — To strengthen early intervention for students’ emotional, behavioral, and developmental health, Llorente National High School (LNHS) conducted a comprehensive orientation for all class advisers on the utilization of Children’s and Adolescent Screening Tools today July 20 at the Manu J FBS Hostel.

The joint initiative was spearheaded by the school’s health and guidance teams, composed of Rowena L. Rivera, Nurse II and Ma. Grace G. Guial, Nurse II, alongside the Guidance Office, represented by Master Teacher II, Ma'am Gina C. Silla and SHS Teacher II, Ma'am Joeylyn A. Banog.

The training focused primarily on the Children and Adolescents Risk Screener (CARS), a standardized questionnaire designed to identify at-risk students before psychological or behavioral challenges escalate.

JHS Coordinator and Head Teacher III, Sir Tito C. Somooc, along with School Officer-in-Charge and Master Teacher II, Ma'am Marella G. Guial, attended the seminar to affirm administrative support for the program.

According to Ma'am Guial, the implementation of CARS serves as a foundational component of the school’s broader mental health framework, which is built on a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS). This system allows educators to provide data-driven, targeted interventions ranging from school-wide wellness programs to individualized counseling.

By equipping frontline class advisers with these screening capabilities, the health and guidance offices aim to establish a more proactive and responsive support network for the student body.

LLORENTE, Eastern Samar – To ensure a seamless transition to the new academic landscape, the Curriculum Implementation Division (CID) of the Schools Division of Eastern Samar conducted an intensive evaluation at Llorente National High School (LNHS) today, July 15.

The visit focused on the school’s preparedness for the full implementation of the Strengthened Senior High School Curriculum, with a particular emphasis on the alignment of teaching workloads and instructional hours with the mandates set forth in the June 16, 2026 Memorandum.

The monitoring and evaluation team—led by Education Program Supervisor (EPS) for English, Ma’am Marcosa A. Lavado; Principal IV, Ma’am Rosana Catuday; and EPS for Science, Dr. Rhea N. Coles—conducted a comprehensive audit of the school’s academic programming.

The scrutiny aimed to verify that current faculty assignments strictly adhere to updated curriculum requirements, ensuring that every subject area receives the mandated number of contact hours to optimize student learning outcomes.

School leadership, including Officer-In-Charge Ma’am Marella G. Guial (MT-II), Senior High School Coordinator Sir Rodger B. Autor (HT-I), and Junior High School Coordinator Sir Tito C. Somooc (HT-III), were present during the deliberations. The team meticulously reviewed teacher assignments to guarantee that workload distribution complies with the specific provisions of the June 16 directive.

"Our goal is to ensure that the transition is not just compliant on paper, but effectively implemented in practice," the CID evaluation team stated. "The workload audit is a critical step in safeguarding the quality of instruction as we shift to the strengthened curriculum framework."

Following the administrative review, the CID personnel transitioned to the field, conducting classroom observations to assess the practical application of the curriculum. Utilizing the GIYA (Guided Instruction and Yielding Assessment) tool, the evaluators monitored instructional delivery and classroom engagement.

Three teachers underwent evaluation: Mrs. Ma. Rhealyn C. Barbo for her Business Accounting 1 elective class, Mr. Marlon A. Celis for Creative Composition 1, and Mr. Bonifacio S. Guira Jr., who presented a Biology 1 lesson utilizing Khan Academy.

The observations provided the CID team with direct insights into how the faculty is adapting to the updated teaching standards and pedagogical approaches required by the new curriculum.

As Llorente NHS continues to align its systems with division-wide directives, the administration expressed its unwavering commitment to resolving any identified gaps, ensuring the school remains a bastion of quality education for its Senior High School students.

Pinangunahan nina Police Staff Sergeant (PSSg) Mark Jil B. Bustillo at Police Corporal (PCpl) Jury G. Lascano ang naturang pagsasanay na naglalayong itaas ang antas ng kahandaan at pagbabantay sa loob ng kampus.

The transformative initiative empowered Science, Technology, and Engineering (STE) students and School Supreme Learner Government (SSLG) officers to navigate adolescent stress through a dedicated session at the school’s Manu J FBS facility.

The program was designed to provide a safe, healthy outlet for students to process stress, manage anxiety, and cultivate the emotional strength necessary for both academic and personal success. 77 YEARS OF EXCELLENCE: LNHS HONORS THE PAST, IGNITES THE FUTURE

The campus of Llorente National High School (LNHS) hummed with an electric spirit of pride and nostalgia today as the community gathered to commemorate the institution’s 77th Founding Anniversary. The celebration stood as a powerful testament to the school's enduring legacy and its deep-rooted commitment to academic excellence.

Aligned with the theme, "Honoring the Past, Celebrating the Present, Inspiring the Future," the day was a seamless blend of reflection, fellowship, and jubilee.

The festivities kicked off promptly at 7:00 AM with a spirited parade, immediately followed by a dynamic marching band exhibition. These opening events set an energetic tone, showcasing the discipline and talent that have become hallmarks of the LNHS student body.

Following the morning activities, the campus transitioned into a moment of communal connection as faculty and staff gathered by grade level for a shared meal and fellowship in the covered court—a time for strengthening bonds and sharing stories across generations.

As the afternoon sun signaled the start of the formal program, the focus shifted toward gratitude and reflection. The assembly was brought to order with a solemn prayer led by the Mabikas Choral, followed by the singing of the National Anthem and the LNHS Hymn, accompanied by the school's own Brass Band.

School Principal III, Dr. Judy B. Operario, opened the session with an inspiring message that bridged the school’s history with its current aspirations. While Master Teacher I, Ma’am Jo Ann B. Loste, provided a poignant look at the institution’s timeline, grounding the current generation in the vision and hard work of the pioneers who established the school.
