EVERYTHING GREEN: SCI Nurtures Health and the Environment
SCI celebrated Nutrition Month through its Wellness Day 2026 on Friday, July 31, 2026, with the theme, “Nutrisyon at Kalikasan, Ating Pangalagaan.” The celebration brought together teachers, non-teaching personnel, and students in promoting healthy living, proper nutrition, and environmental responsibility.
Before the program, the entire SCI community gathered for a Community Mass at St. Rose of Lima Parish, presided over by Rev. Fr. Jake J. Rovillos. In his homily, Fr. Rovillos reflected on the life and virtues of St. Ignatius of Loyola, whose feast day is celebrated on July 31. He encouraged the faithful to seek God in all things, live with discipline and purpose, and use their talents in service to others.
Following the Mass, the pupils and the students assembled for the opening program. Ms. Argemalyn Dizon led the opening prayer, while SPSC President Ms. Elaizabeth Ann A. Manaoat led the singing of the Philippine National Anthem. The Columban Hymn followed, after which Mr. Christdale G. Ulanday delivered the welcome address. A roll call of each grade level was then conducted to acknowledge the presence of the participants.
The celebration continued with an energetic Wellness Dance prepared and led by the Supreme Pupils and Students Council (SPSC) Officers, encouraging everyone to actively participate in the activities. Afterward, Ms. Tiffany Rose Rabaya presented the guidelines and instructions for the classroom-based activities.
Students from different grade levels showcased their creativity, practical skills, and environmental awareness through various activities. Kindergarten to Grade 3 pupils crafted Nutri-Head Dresses, while Grades 4 to 6 learners designed Nutri-Plates that demonstrated their understanding of balanced meal preparation. Meanwhile, Junior High School students from Grades 7 to 10 prepared Nutri-Bentos, applying food plating techniques while promoting nutritious meals. Senior High School students from Grades 11 and 12 participated in the “Trash to Treasure” activity by transforming recyclable materials into functional pots and organizers, highlighting the value of recycling and sustainability.
The program was smoothly facilitated by the Masters of Ceremony, Ms. May Cecile Fernandez and Mr. Dominic De Guzman, whose guidance ensured the orderly flow of the event. The celebration concluded with the inspiring closing remarks of Mr. Luisito S. Veloria, who emphasized the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle while protecting the environment through responsible and sustainable practices.
The school administration extends its heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Christdale G. Ulanday, Mr. Luisito S. Veloria, Ms. May Cecile Fernandez, Ms. Tiffany Rose Rabaya, Mr. Dominic De Guzman, the SPSC Officers, and all faculty members and staff whose dedication contributed to the success of the celebration. Through programs like these, the SCI community continues to demonstrate that nurturing health and caring for the environment are essential steps toward building a healthier, greener, and more sustainable future.
