𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒 | 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐈 𝐄𝐫𝐚 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐞: 𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐔𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐔𝐬𝐞

The Office of the Vice President for Academics and Student Services, in coordination with the Curriculum and Instruction and the Faculty Development Offices, conducted the online seminar-workshop entitled, “Artificial Intelligence in the Academe: AI Detection in the Work/Outputs of Students in the Tertiary Level” on August 14, 2026, Friday, made possible through the unrelenting leadership of the University President, Dr. Elbert M. Galas.

With notable resource speakers, namely: Dr. Ryan S. Evangelista, founding president of the Institute of Computer Engineers of the Phils. (ICEP) and Senior Consultant, Tech. Com. Solutions, Pte., Ltd., Singapore; and Dr. Thelma D. Palaoag, the vice president for Research, Innovation and Institutional and Professor, College of Information Technology and Computer Science of the University of Cordilleras, Baguio City, the activity brought together more than 400 participants who actively joined the whole-day online learning session, showing the academic community’s strong interest in understanding the responsible and appropriate use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in higher education.

The seminar-workshop also highlighted PSU BOR Resolution No. 19, Series of 2026 approved on March 18, 2026, entitled, “Policy and Guidelines on the Responsible Use of AI in Teaching, Learning and Assessment at Pangasinan State University.” This policy aims to establish a clear, fair and institutionally aligned framework governing the ethical, transparent and accountable use of AI across all campuses and programs of PSU.

More importantly, the learnings from the seminar-workshop will be integrated into the faculty members’ Instructional Delivery Plans, particularly in the assessment and checking of students’ outputs, ensuring that these are aligned with the course and learning outcomes.

Through this initiative, participants were given a valuable opportunity to deepen their understanding of AI, while also reflecting on the opportunities, challenges and responsibilities that come with its growing use in the academic community.

Indeed, the AI era is here and the academe is ready to navigate it with knowledge, responsibility and purpose.

As we welcome the 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀, Pangasinan State University encourages all students to be ready and familiar with the tools that will support their learning journey. As PSU continues to implement 𝗙𝗹𝗲𝘅𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗼𝗳𝘁 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘀 will serve as an important academic platform for communication, collaboration, classes, and access to learning materials.
To help students get started, we invite everyone to watch our 𝗙𝗹𝗲𝘅𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗼𝗳𝘁 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘀 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝗩𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗼, which introduces the concept of Flexible Learning, highlights Microsoft Teams as an essential academic platform, discusses the three important preparations students need, and demonstrates how to effectively use Microsoft Teams for learning.

Mahalagang gamitin ang modernong teknolohiya (AI) sa responsable, tama, at etikal na paraan. Gamitin natin ang AI nang may talino at pananagutan, kasabay ng pagpapalakas sa wikang Filipino at sa mga katutubong wika para sa ikabubuti ng bansa.

Magkaisa tayong lahat at patunayang habang umuunlad ang teknolohiya, umuunlad din ang wika. Sama-sama nating ipagdiwang ang ating Wikang Pambansa sa Agosto 2026!
