𝐒𝐏𝐄𝐒 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬
𝐏𝐒𝐔’𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭

PSU welcomed the monitoring and supervision activity conducted by the Department of Labor and Employment Western Pangasinan Field Office (DOLE-WPFO) for the 20 Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) beneficiaries deployed at PSU Lingayen Campus and Administration Offices.

Facilitated by the Office of Students and Alumni Affairs, the 20-day employment program provides PSUnians with financial support for their education while giving them meaningful workplace experience, practical skills, and a deeper sense of responsibility, professionalism, and service.

A total of 70 SPES beneficiaries are currently deployed across the 9 campuses of PSU, reflecting the University’s continued commitment to student welfare, work readiness, and youth empowerment through its partnership with DOLE.

The EASE provides financial assistance to qualified and deserving students who are members of Special Equity Groups with a general weighted average of 85% or its equivalent.

As we prepare to celebrate the achievements of the PSU Class of 2026, all graduating students in the 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗿’𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝘀 and their parents are reminded that the University will not collect any fees for the graduation ceremony or any graduation-related activities.

The graduation fee is FREE. Graduation materials such as the Abaray na Dayew, Diploma, Graduation Pins, Ribbons, Medals, and other materials related to the conduct of the graduation ceremony, including the venue rental, shall be shouldered by the Government and Pangasinan State University as part of our commitment to accessible education.

The University Administration does not authorize any individual, organization, association, committee, or any other entity to collect fees, solicit contributions, or require payments in connection with graduation or any graduation-related activity without official written authorization.

Graduating students and parents are advised to be guided accordingly.

PEMG speaks today because our conscience as educators cannot be silent. The violence reaching schools in our country is a wound on every Filipino child’s future.

Our schools should be sanctuaries of learning, not grounds for violence.

Recently, the heartbreaking realities of school violence in our country have tested our collective conscience. Every injury and every life lost is a tragedy that dims the future of our nation.

As a leader, we refuse to let despair win.

We are calling on every student, every young Filipino—and equally, on parents, teachers, and educational leaders: it is time to reclaim our shared purpose.

Dr. Jose Rizal famously wrote, “Ang kabataan ang pag-asa ng bayan.” But being the “hope of the nation” is not just a title; it is a daily choice. It is choosing empathy over anger. It is choosing dialogue over fists. It is standing up for classmates and protecting the vulnerable. True strength is not shown in the ability to harm, but in the courage to heal, to build, and to unite.

Yet this responsibility does not rest on the youth alone. Parents must nurture compassion at home. Educators and leaders must create spaces where respect, understanding, and integrity are taught not only in words but in action. Together, we shape the values that define our future.

Let us break the cycle of violence—not as individuals, but as one community. Let us be the light that guides our nation out of the darkness.
