𝗔 𝗣𝗶𝗻 𝗧𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗔 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗧𝗼𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘄 | 𝗣𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲

On September 17, 2026, the BSEd English majors of Limay Polytechnic College marked a significant milestone in their journey toward becoming future educators.

The pin may be small in size, but it carries a profound meaning. It symbolizes preparation, commitment, and the responsibility that comes with becoming a teacher. More than simply teaching, educators are called to be facilitators, listeners, mentors, and servants to their learners.

As student teachers, we remain learners ourselves. We continue to discover who we are, strengthen our skills, and prepare for the learners we will one day guide. There may still be questions we cannot answer, but the journey reminds us that learning never truly ends.

Behind every pin are late nights, challenges, training, mistakes, self-doubt, and moments when giving up seemed easier. Each experience has shaped us and brought us closer to the educators we aspire to become.

This pin does not mark the end of our journey. Rather, it serves as a reminder of the responsibility and purpose that lie ahead. As we prepare to teach others, we are also becoming the teachers we once hoped to have.

Today, we celebrate not only the pin, but the dream, preparation, and journey behind it.

We dreamed. We learned. We prepared. We pinned. Now, we take one step closer to serving.

𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀' 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 | “𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿, 𝗶𝗸𝗮𝘄 𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗻.”

Teachers act like candles that light up the students when they are in darkness. They give their time, patience, and care to students without expecting anything in return. Every day, they quietly light the paths of those learners who are still trying to find their own. But this time, let them also feel the warmth of the light, because it is their turn to be thanked, celebrated, and cared for.

So, let us appreciate the willingness of teachers to go the extra mile even when storms of worry gather outside the classroom. This is something we tend to admire as courage, the act of doing something even with fear. The school needs to be a safe place for the students, however, let us not forget the teachers, since they need some protection as well, because being strong does not mean never needing to be cared for.

Teachers do their best to make the school a home where patience is a roof, kindness is an open door, and their presence is a shelter for the students. If a school is a place of comfort, warmth, and a place for breathing, then our second home must have space for our teachers too.

With the rise of artificial intelligence, where we could get all the answers on screen and find information instantly, nothing could ever take the place of the teacher’s warm hug, pat on your shoulder, and simply by mentioning the names of the students that make them feel seen. And while it is true that teachers give that love to their learners every day, teachers should also be able to receive it as well.

Let us do something to compensate our teachers for all the hardships they have gone through, just by making them feel appreciated.

THE HEROISM WE INHERIT

Freedom wasn't a gift handed to us—it was paid for in blood, carved from the darkness by those who chose to give us light.

But their fight did not end in the past. It lives on in the teacher who stays a little longer to help a struggling student, the frontliner who wades through floodwaters to serve others, the parent who sacrifices everything for their family, and every Filipino who extends a helping hand when someone is in need. They may not carry a bolo or a r***e, but they carry the same spirit of courage, service, and compassion that our heroes fought for.

So, let us honor not only the names etched in history or the statues that stand in our cities, but also those who continue to embody the values our heroes left behind. Let us not merely remember their names. Let us become the reason their sacrifices were worth it.

‎𝑩𝒆𝒚𝒐𝒏𝒅 𝑾𝒐𝒓𝒅𝒔: 𝑴𝒂𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑯𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝑻𝒆𝒂𝒄𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈

‎For two days, aspiring educators gathered not only to strengthen their command of the English language but also to reflect on what it truly means to stand before a classroom and teach.
‎
‎The Mastering the Medium: English Proficiency Training Seminar for Aspiring Educators, organized by Lingua Societas, officially concluded on August 25 with a final session that shifted the focus beyond language proficiency and toward the human side of education.
‎
‎Leading the Day 2 session, “Strategies in Teaching English Effectively,” Sir Aljon F. Tobongbanua, MAEd, emphasized that effective teaching is built on more than knowledge alone. Behind every lesson, explanation, and correction is a teacher with the opportunity to influence a learner's growth.
‎
‎His reminder was simple, yet carried a lesson that extends far beyond the classroom:
‎
‎“Remain humble and always be compassionate—a little kindness goes a long way in teaching and in life.”
‎
‎In a profession often associated with expertise and authority, humility reminds educators that teaching is also a process of listening, learning, and growing. Compassion, meanwhile, enables teachers to see students not merely as learners expected to meet academic standards but as individuals with different experiences, struggles, and ways of learning.

‎The workshops and activities throughout the seminar reinforced this broader understanding of communication. Proficiency gives teachers the ability to express ideas clearly, but empathy determines how those ideas are received and understood.
‎
‎For aspiring English educators, mastering the medium therefore means more than mastering words. It means learning how to make those words matter.
‎
‎As the two-day seminar came to a close, the participants left with more than strategies for teaching English. They carried with them a deeper reminder of the educators they aspire to become: competent in their craft, confident in their communication, and grounded in humility
‎and compassion.
‎
‎Because classrooms are built not only through lessons but also through connections.
‎And sometimes, a little kindness becomes the lesson a student remembers the longest.
