𝗖𝗢𝗟𝗟𝗘𝗚𝗘 𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗦 | 𝗟𝗣𝗖 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘀 𝗔𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗱 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘀
Limay Polytechnic College (LPC) convened separate consultation sessions with the Academic Council, Supreme Student Council and Council of Presidents on April 13 to assess the academic conditions and emerging needs of students affected by the ongoing energy crisis linked to the Middle East conflict.
The consultation aimed to examine the socio-economic impact on students and identify responsive interventions, including the possible adoption of flexible learning modalities.
During the session, Ms. Jesica Marata, Officer of Student Affairs, Discipline, and Services (OSADS), presented the results of a survey on the current conditions of students during this energy emergency time. The findings served as a basis for formulating appropriate institutional responses and support mechanisms.
Survey results revealed that students residing within the municipality experience minimal impact and are generally willing to cope with the situation. In contrast, those coming from neighboring towns reported greater challenges, particularly in terms of transportation and daily expenses.
Despite these difficulties, many students expressed a preference for continuing onsite classes, citing limited access to gadgets and stable internet connectivity for full online learning.
In response, the Academic Council endorsed a flexible learning approach to ensure continuity of instruction. Under this arrangement, students living near the campus may continue attending face-to-face classes, while those experiencing transportation or financial constraints may opt for flexible modalities.
Applications for flexible learning will be evaluated and approved by respective department heads.
Participants also recommended appealing to local government units, including municipalities and barangays, to provide transportation support for students. Additionally, the group proposed the temporary suspension of non-essential student activities, except for official institutional representations, to help reduce costs.
Preparations for the college’s 29th Foundation Celebration will likewise be adjusted to reflect cost-efficiency measures. Plans include minimizing expenses for transportation, costumes, and props, while retaining activities that require minimal or no funding and shifting others to online platforms to reduce days of onsite attendance and involvement. A modest and practical approach to graduation rites is also being considered.
These measures aim to reduce financial burden while maintaining the quality of instruction and student engagement.
LPC reaffirmed its commitment to consultative governance, emphasizing democratic participation, needs-based planning, and data-driven decision-making.
The College President commended the OSADS, student leaders, and the Academic Council for their collaborative efforts in data gathering, active participation, and constructive recommendations toward continuous quality improvement and responsive interventions.
