We are proud to share that our pamphlet "𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐝𝐚 𝐏𝐚𝐠𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐠: 𝐀𝐧 𝐀𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 𝐢𝐧 𝐄𝐧𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝟕 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐬" has been officially copyrighted with the National Library of the Philippines, marking a significant milestone not only for its authors but also in the field of Mathematics education. This copyright registration formally recognizes the originality and educational value of the pamphlet, which aims to support learners, specifically the Grade 7 students through targeted afterschool remedial sessions focused on improving key competencies in Grade 7 Mathematics.

What hafen, vela? Our mates in 𝐁𝐒𝐄𝐝 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝟒 showed their 𝙛𝙖𝙣𝙜-𝙩𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙘 abilities in presenting their thesis in the recently concluded 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 𝐁𝐔 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐮𝐢 𝐑&𝐃 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐮𝐦. The results were released on 𝐌𝐚𝐲 𝟕, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓, at the 𝐁𝐔 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐮𝐢 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞, headed by 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐀𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐥 𝐉𝐨𝐲 𝐁. 𝐍𝐮𝐞𝐳.

The researchers, 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐁. 𝐁𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐬, 𝐍𝐢𝐧𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝐀. 𝐀𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐫, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐞𝐥 𝐕. 𝐕𝐢𝐨, 𝐉𝐫., along with their adviser, 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐬 𝐏. 𝐒𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐞, submitted a thesis brief and a video presentation discussing their research, which was subjected to deliberation. Their thesis, titled "𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗮𝗱𝗮 𝗣𝗮𝗴𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗴: 𝗔𝗻 𝗔𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝗶𝗻 𝗘𝗻𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝟳 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘀," won 𝙁𝙞𝙧𝙨𝙩 𝙋𝙡𝙖𝙘𝙚 in the 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗼𝗿𝘆 under the 𝗔𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗮 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 (𝗜𝗘𝗟𝗟).

𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗮𝗱𝗮 𝗣𝗮𝗴𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗴 emerged as one of the ten best theses that competed in the 𝘽𝙞𝙘𝙤𝙡 𝙐𝙣𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝘽𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙐𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙙𝙪𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙏𝙝𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙨 (𝘽𝙐𝘽𝙐𝙏) 2025! What an honor to showcase innovation, passion, and purpose on a prestigious stage. The 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐡 𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐬' 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐲 sends you infinite rounds of applause. Your mathematical brilliance truly shone. The 𝘽𝙧𝙞𝙜𝙖𝙙𝙖 𝙋𝙖𝙜𝙗𝙞𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝙏𝙚𝙖𝙢—especially 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐁. 𝐁𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐬, who took a significant step in presenting during the 11th International and 12th National Teachers and Education Students' Conference (TEStCon) on behalf of his co-authors 𝐍𝐢𝐧𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝐀. 𝐀𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐫, 𝐌𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐞𝐥 𝐕. 𝐕𝐢𝐨 𝐉𝐫., and adviser 𝐌𝐫. 𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐬 𝐏. 𝐒𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐞—showcased their undergraduate thesis entitled "𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗮𝗱𝗮 𝗣𝗮𝗴𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗴: 𝗔𝗻 𝗔𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝗶𝗻 𝗘𝗻𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝟳 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘀". The event, hosted by the Cebu Normal University (CNU) College of Teacher Education (CTE), took place on November 18-19, 2024, via Zoom, under the theme "AI and the Future: Empowering Teacher Education Innovations."

The conference featured four research tracks: (1) Pedagogical Strategies and Approaches, (2) Educational Technology and Innovation, (3) Education for Sustainable Development, and (4) 21st Century Skills and Literacies. The Brigada Pagbilang Team participated in Track 4, focusing on the development of Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials as part of their research project.

𝐁𝐒𝐄𝐝 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐰𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬

Fourth-year Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) Mathematics students presented their research at the First International Research Conference on Interdisciplinary Perspectives (IRCIP) 2024 organized by The Wise Researcher (TWR) Publishing, held virtually via Zoom on September 27-28. Themed “Bridging Disciplines for Holistic Societal Development,” the conference featured 135 presenters from 92 institutions and included 39 non-presenting participants.

The research presentations were organized into four thematic clusters: 𝘊𝘭𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳 1: Education, Language, and Psychology; 𝘊𝘭𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳 2: Economics, Business, and Management; 𝘊𝘭𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳 3: Engineering, Science and Technology, Information Technology; and 𝘊𝘭𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳 4: Philosophy, Religion, History, Humanities, and Social Sciences. BSED Math students of the college joined cluster 1 of the said conference.

The first research team consisting of Randhyl Keith R. Aguilar, Michelle A. Ametin, and Angel Lyn B. Cornel, along with their adviser, Prof. Edward B. Pescuela, has presented their study titled "Enriching Pre-Service Teachers Technological, Pedagogical and Content Knowledge (TPACK) in Calculus Through Mathematical Technologies" The initiative, known as Project ENCALTECH, according to them, aims to enhance the TPACK of pre-service mathematics teachers. By focusing on the integration of emerging technologies in math education, the project seeks to hone their skills and capabilities, ultimately improving their effectiveness as future educators.

Meanwhile, the second research team led by Baby Criss A. Ponce, Dyna Mae L. Rojo, and Prof. Edward B. Pescuela has presented their study titled “Mastering Mathematical Terminologies and Jargons Through Various Instructional Resources.” The research, conducted at Kinale Elementary School in Polangui, Albay, focused on helping Grade 6 students understand mathematical language skills in a more accessible and engaging way through different instructional materials.

The third research team, including Mark Lester Bragais, Ninmark A. Aguilar, and Michael V. Vio, Jr., together with Prof. John Thomas Satimbre, also presented their study titled “Brigada Pagbilang: An Afterschool Remedial Program in Enhancing Mathematics 7 Competencies.” The group developed innovative Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials tailored to the Most Essential Learning Competencies (MELCs). These resources are available in both printed and non-printed formats, aiming to improve educational outreach and cater to various learning environments, thus fostering better comprehension and engagement among students.

Mark Lester Bragais, reflecting on his team's preparation for their undergraduate thesis presentation, stated, “Last month, I started browsing for a research conference where we could present our thesis. After finding one, we met with our team and discussed our plans with our adviser. Once we spoke with him, we completed the registration form, and within a few days, we received a notice of acceptance. In terms of preparations, we didn’t do much; we recycled the PowerPoint presentation from our final defense and created a 10-minute video presentation as required. We also reviewed the research paper briefly to prepare for the Q&A session during the conference.”

“We wanted our study to be acknowledged by those who could help us improve it. I’ve always aimed to contribute to the betterment of mathematics education, and this conference was a step toward that goal,” Dyna Rojo expressed.

Despite falling short of securing an award at the conference, the three teams expressed gratitude for the opportunity to showcase their hard-earned theses.

Who would have thought that our study would be accepted at the research conference? Representing Bicol University Polangui at the international research conference was an enriching experience, allowing us to engage with experts share our research initiatives. This experience not only elevated our academic journey but also strengthened our university's presence on the international stage.💙🧡

𝗕𝗜𝗖𝗢𝗟 𝗨𝗡𝗜𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗦𝗜𝗧𝗬 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗔𝗡 𝗔𝗚𝗨𝗦𝗧𝗜𝗡 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗨𝗽 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗜𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀🧡💙

This 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗮𝗱𝗮 𝗣𝗮𝗴𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 is an extension research activity which helps students enhance their mathematical performance, especially in their least mastered competencies in Mathematics 7. ✨🖊️

During the 𝘽𝙧𝙞𝙜𝙖𝙙𝙖 𝙋𝙖𝙜𝙗𝙞𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙚𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝘾𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙢𝙤𝙣𝙮 held on 𝐀𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐥 𝟏𝟑, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒, the Teacher Education Department Head, Ma. Saleste D. San Pablo, and BU Polangui Extension Coordinator, Edward B. Pescuela, were present and shared their inspirational messages, highlighting the importance of having extension activities, especially in the Teacher Education Department.

The 𝙏𝙚𝙖𝙢 𝘽𝙧𝙞𝙜𝙖𝙙𝙖 𝙋𝙖𝙜𝙗𝙞𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙜 would like to congratulate our dear Grade 7 student participants for successfully completing the Brigada Pagbilang sessions. We'll see each other again soon!
