SCHOOL PROFILE
Tampuhan Elementary School is a complete elementary institution managed by a Teacher-In-Charge. It is situated along the riverside on the western side of Libmanan, 15 kilometers away from the Libmanan North District Office and 54 kilometers away from the Division Office. Nonsol was the first teacher with 21 pupils in a single grade school. From 1992 until 2008, the s
chool was up to grade four only occupying two classrooms with two teachers. On June 2009, during the incumbency of Mrs. Jocelyn Ibarra as School Head, opening of Grades 5 and 6 was approved thus marks the completion of elementary grades. There were three teachers then handling multigrade classes. Ronnel P. Ravanilla was designated as School Head. On June 2013, four nationally funded permanent teachers were appointed. Three of these were appointed through the efforts of Cong. Diosdado Arroyo. This able the school to offer a single class per grade level with a teaching force of seven personnel and a kindergarten volunteer teacher Further, construction of a two-room classroom building followed on the same year. Also, electrical power was installed on the first quarter of 2014. From its humble beginning, Tampuhan Elementary School continuously improves itself to serve the interest of its clientele. Barangay Tampuhan is located along the riverside 15 kilometers west of the Libmanan town proper. It has a total land area of 123.27 hectares, divided into seven (7) zones and each is managed by a barangay kagawad in charge and zone officers. The barangay derived its name from a tagalog word “tampo” or “nagtampo” or “tinampuhan.” According to oldest woman of the place, the late Mercedes Operio, during the Spanish times, Spaniards were looking for a place where they can build headquarters outside the town proper(pueblo). They found this place but later realized that it is not suitable to put up a headquarter since it is surrounded by a river. They thought that there was no way for them to escape and save their lives because they’ll be trapped in the place. Because of this they called the place Tinampuhan and later became Tampuhan. Primarily an agricultural land, most of the families are engaged in farming as their primary source of livelihood. The most common crops are rice and vegetables. Almost 75% of the households own a parcel of land which they cultivate to earn a living. Others are only caretakers of the land some are laborers. But notably, their income is inadequate to provide the basic needs of the family, other source of income is fishing and some are into buy and sell business. It can also be noted that only a few pursue college education while others can hardly finish high school because of low economic status of the parents. As a result, there very few
professionals in this barangay. The people are generally hardworking and peace loving. There are no reported major incidence of criminality except petty family conflicts or disagreement or quarrels out of drunkenness and very few stealing-related complaints.
