A child needs a villageโnot just to grow, but to feel that they belong. When people are heard, included, and valued, they are given a reason to build with the community rather than turn away from it.
This spirit of belonging and collective responsibility was at the heart of the Student Leadership for Peace and Security Summit, with the theme The summit brought together student leaders from different schools across the municipality, creating a space for young leaders to learn, share perspectives, and grow together.
Representing Lianga National Comprehensive High School were student leaders from different organizations and clubs, coming together with a shared commitment to strengthen their leadership and contribute to a more peaceful and secure school community.
The summit reminded us that leadership is more than a position. It is about serving, listening, creating safe spaces, and empowering others. Through discussions on inclusive leadership and peer mediation, responsible digital citizenship, and disaster risk reduction, we were reminded that peace begins with ourselves and is reflected in the choices we make every day.
As student leaders, we learned to listen before deciding, ask instead of assuming, think before sharing, and choose understanding over conflict. We were also reminded that young people have a meaningful role in building peaceful, safe, and resilient communities.
Different schools, different organizations, different experiencesโbut one common aspiration: to create communities where everyone feels heard, respected, included, and valued.
As LNCHS student leaders, we carry these lessons forward, choosing to be part of the village that listens, embraces, and builds peace together. ๐ค
