𝙍𝙊𝘼𝙍𝙄𝙉𝙂 𝙁𝙊𝙍 𝙈𝙊𝙍𝙀: 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙋𝙖𝙧𝙡𝙞𝙖𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙝𝙤𝙡𝙙𝙨 𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣, 𝙬𝙚𝙡𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙣𝙚𝙬 𝙢𝙚𝙢𝙗𝙚𝙧𝙨

To welcome its new members, the University of Santo Tomas-Legazpi Law Debate and Moot Court Parliament (USTL-LDMCP)conducted an online orientation on Sunday, April 19, 2025, via Zoom. The event was also ​aligned with the organization's mission to foster and reintroduce a culture of legal advocacy in the Legazpi Thomasian community.

Atty. Leandro M. Millano, Dean of the College of Law, provided his opening remarks and gave participants an inspiring message centered on the value of mooting and debate in honing holistic legal practitioners.

USTL-LDMCP President Alfren Anthony Yango discussed the organization’s core culture and values. Additionally, Prime Minister Ace John Tabuzo provided a lecture on the mechanics of mooting, while Secretary-General Rhoda Elaine Azur delivered a comprehensive discussion on competitive law debating.

Vice President for Memberships Dave Joshua Belleza led the welcoming of the new official members, namely: Mary Angel Magayanes (JD2A), Kyla Mae Balderama (JD2B), and Richard Abenir (JD1A).

The program concluded with remarks from Executive Vice President Francine Mae Tayo, who expressed her gratitude to the members for heeding the call to join The Parliament.

The new members were also challenged to deliver their sharpest arguments in under sixty seconds during the "Just A Minute Speech" (JAMS) segment, showcasing their quick thinking, wit and humor, and oratorical flair.

𝗔𝗖𝗔𝗗𝗘𝗠𝗜𝗖 𝗨𝗣𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘𝗦 | Classes at all levels at the University of Santo Tomas-Legazpi will transition to Online Synchronous Modality on April 21-22, 2026, in anticipation of the impending Transport Strike scheduled on said dates.

In-person classes for all levels will resume on Thursday, April 23, 2026.

In anticipation of the impending Transport Strike scheduled on April 21-22, 2026, classes at all levels at UST-Legazpi will transition to the Online Synchronous Modality on the said dates. In-person classes for all levels will resume on Thursday, April 23, 2026.

Office operations will continue as usual.

SPOTLIGHT: 𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐌𝐨𝐨𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐭 ⚖️

In this special feature, 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 asked questions to 𝐀𝐭𝐭𝐲. 𝐀𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜 𝐌. 𝐃𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐚𝐧𝐨, a former debater and mooter of the University of Santo Tomas–Legazpi College of Law. Once a dedicated member of the Moot Court Commission who helped bring home competition awards, Atty. Aaron now serves as a Court Attorney at the Supreme Court of the Philippines.

From dreaming big in law school to standing in the halls of justice, his journey proves one thing: greatness begins with the courage to step forward.

1. 𝘿𝙚𝙨𝙘𝙧𝙞𝙗𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙢𝙤𝙤𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜/𝙙𝙚𝙗𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙚𝙭𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙙𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙡𝙖𝙬 𝙨𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙡 𝙮𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙨.

Going into Mooting was one of the best decisions I've made in law school. I had a big dream for myself, and while mooting was extremely heavy a burden, I knew my dreams were worth it.

2. 𝙃𝙤𝙬 𝙙𝙞𝙙 𝙞𝙩 𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙥 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙗𝙤𝙩𝙝 𝙞𝙣 𝙡𝙖𝙬 𝙨𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙡 𝙩𝙚𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙞𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙛𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙡𝙞𝙛𝙚 𝙖𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙧?

Because of moot training, I learned how to improve my logic and the way I answer difficult questions in class. I do not exaggerate when I say it has transformed my presentation skills. I think I can stand in any room and draw up the courage to speak because I survived moot court.

3. 𝙒𝙝𝙮 𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙡𝙖𝙬 𝙨𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙩𝙧𝙮 𝙢𝙤𝙤𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜/𝙙𝙚𝙗𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙟𝙤𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙤𝙧𝙜𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙯𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣?

Anyone who has a high aspiration of what they want to be when they become lawyers should consider mooting or debating in law school. It will take a lot, that part should be clear, but if they find the joy in it, it can be incredibly rewarding. Trust that you can do it.
