INTRODUCTION
The Philippine Society of Mining Engineers - Bicol University Student Chapter is a college-based organization adhering with PSEM – Bicol Chapter. It is driven by its vision, mission, and goals in taking a viable course of action for the mining engineering students, the department, the industry, and the community. The organization is committed to promoting and actively engaging with it
s members through research, writing, publishing, and dissemination of knowledge in the university, which is within the field of Mining Engineering. PSEM BUSC will continue to raise awareness in protecting natural resources for the benefit of the present and future generations. Together with its members, the organization will uphold its values and mining principles for both the environment and the interest of the people. VISION
Philippine Society of Mining Engineers – Bicol University Student Chapter aspires to be a premier provider of dynamic and innovative programs and services in promoting responsible and sustainable mining in the region, to catalyze growth in acknowledging the significance of mining in our society, and to be a part of producing highly competent, innovative, and responsible mining engineers in the regional, national, and global development. MISSION
The Philippine Society of Mining Engineers – Bicol University Student Chapter is committed to expanding possibilities for professional, environmental, and societal growth by:
1. Developing programs and activities for its members along with the advancement of the mining industry;
2. Advocating valid and credible knowledge in promoting responsible mining under the concept of sustainable development in human societies and;
3. Helping the students to gain a scientific understanding of mining engineering practices for the use of earth resources and environmental quality maintenance. GOALS
PSEM-BUSC aims to allow students to acquire empowerment and competence to ignite inclusivity and growth for future endeavors through worthwhile initiatives. Specifically, the organization strives to achieve its vision, mission, and gauge its success by pursuing the following goals:
a. Create a more streamlined and developmental engagement experience and strengthen university collaborations through partnership programs;
b. Implement and support student-oriented initiatives to engage with various student bodies;
c. Expand quality programs for the students’ leadership development and experience;
d. Integrate student learning and involvement, as well as cultivate a culture of high expectations for academic performance and well-being;
e. Prepare students for a professional career, socio-economic consciousness, and citizenship;
f. Foster organization’s competency to ensure equity and opportunity for the students, department, and society;
g. Transcend methods of promoting PSEM-BUSC’s advocacy by producing effective actions and impactful materials on meaningful platforms within the university and communities;
h. Maximize and build students’ skills and abilities to continuously learn, educate, and advocate responsible and sustainable mining and;
i. Uphold commitment with Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) and PSEM Bicol Chapter in providing dynamic excellence to strengthen their members and fulfill their objectives.
