I just wanted to highlight the following probable factors in such a success story:
1. The man himself and his desire to achieve something for himself; he has manifested through the years as a working student his desire to achieve his career goal - Library & Information Science. Imagine balancing work and studies through the years. I should know because I studied under a
university scholarship program. In literature, this is also known as “internal motivation.”
2. Government support through the Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES Law RA 9547 amended by RA 10917). The law implemented to its full extent (78 days rather than only 20 days) may have been that deliberate in effecting target achievement set by both the participant and the law itself. Of course the institution, Divine Word College of Legazpi for this matter, invested in the student through its working scholarship programs. Add both together, one has a tool so potent it can make one love learning rather than worrying about how to pay one’s school fees. And as a working student, one learns the art of time and priority management.
3. And of course the program itself: Library and Information Science which produces Librarians whose expertise is needed not just in the tradition locus - the library - but also in other companies which use the digital mode of filing and data management.
There should be more factors. Do feel free to add yours in the engagement space. Thank you for reading this far. I hope you find your niche too! God bless
