On ๐‰๐ฎ๐ง๐ž ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ, ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ”, at ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ:๐ŸŽ๐ŸŽ ๐€๐Œ, graduating students gathered at ๐’๐ญ. ๐†๐ซ๐ž๐ ๐จ๐ซ๐ฒ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐†๐ซ๐ž๐š๐ญ ๐‚๐š๐ญ๐ก๐ž๐๐ซ๐š๐ฅ for the ๐๐”๐‚๐’ ๐๐š๐œ๐œ๐š๐ฅ๐š๐ฎ๐ซ๐ž๐š๐ญ๐ž ๐Œ๐š๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ”, a meaningful celebration of faith, gratitude, and reflection as they prepare to embark on a new chapter beyond the university.

The event was attended by the college officials, department chairs, faculty members, and guests, who joined the graduating class in offering thanksgiving for the blessings, lessons, and achievements earned throughout their academic journey.

This meaningful celebration was organized by ๐‚๐ฒ๐ซ๐ฎ๐ฌ ๐€. ๐๐š๐ซ๐ซ๐š๐ฆ๐ž๐๐š, Vice President for Administration and Finance, and ๐Œ๐ฌ. ๐Œ๐š๐ซ๐ข๐š ๐Œ๐ฒ๐ซ๐š ๐€. ๐‚๐š๐ฉ๐š๐ซ๐š๐ฌ, Acting Chief, Administrative Services Division. Held in front of the ๐‘๐ข๐œ๐š๐ซ๐๐จ ๐€. ๐€๐ซ๐œ๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ๐š ๐๐ฎ๐ข๐ฅ๐๐ข๐ง๐  at 7:30 AM, the event was graced and actively participated in by top BU officials, Deans and Directors, Department Chairs, Non-Teaching Personnel, USC Officers, and CSC Officers.

Adding pride and inspiration to the celebration were the performances of the BU Marching Band and the BU Chorale, whose musical presentations highlighted the spirit of patriotism and unity, making the occasion even more memorable and meaningful for all attendees.

๐‹๐„๐†๐€๐™๐๐ˆ ๐‚๐ˆ๐“๐˜ โ€“ A total of ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ Bicol University College of Science (BUCS) students from the Literacy Training Service (LTS) and Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS) programs officially completed their National Service Training Program (NSTP) requirements during a commencement ceremony held on ๐Œ๐š๐ฒ ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ”, ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ”, at the ๐‚๐’๐๐Ÿ’ quadrangle.

The event, which commenced at 4:00 p.m., honored the hard work and community contributions of ๐Ÿ–๐ŸŽ ๐‹๐“๐’ students and ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ ๐‚๐–๐“๐’ students from the college. The formal opening was led by ๐ƒ๐ž๐š๐ง ๐‰๐จ๐œ๐ž๐ฅ๐ฒ๐ง ๐„. ๐’๐ž๐ซ๐ซ๐š๐ง๐จ, followed by an inspirational address from the NSTP Director, ๐„๐๐ฎ๐š๐ซ๐๐จ ๐“๐ก๐š๐๐๐ž๐ฎ๐ฌ ๐Œ. ๐‹๐ข๐ฏ๐ข๐œ๐š, ๐‰๐ซ., who lauded the students for their commitment to service.

The program highlighted the tangible impact of the students' work through the presentation of accomplishment reports, which were delivered by the respective block presidents. The successful ex*****on of these community projects was guided by ๐๐ซ๐จ๐Ÿ. ๐‰๐จ๐ง๐š๐ญ๐ก๐š๐ง ๐‚. ๐๐จ๐ซ๐ซ๐จ๐ฆ๐ž๐จ, who has faithfully served as the BUCS NSTP Focal Person over the years, alongside dedicated faculty implementers ๐‘๐ž๐š๐›๐ž๐ฅ ๐•. ๐๐ข๐๐ž๐š (CWTS), ๐Œ๐š๐ซ๐ข๐œ๐ž๐ฅ ๐Œ. ๐‘๐ข๐œ๐จ๐œ๐จ (CWTS), and ๐†๐ž๐ซ๐š๐ฅ๐ฒ๐ง ๐Œ. ๐‹๐ฅ๐š๐ฆ๐ž๐ฅ๐จ (LTS), who closely supervised each block's initiatives.

A significant portion of the ceremony focused on the transition of the graduates into the National Service Reserve Corps (NSRC). The oath-taking ceremony was presided over by ๐„๐ณ๐ž๐ค๐ข๐š๐ก ๐†๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ž๐ ๐จ, former president of the Students Association for Youth Action and National Service (SAYANS).

The afternoonโ€™s proceedings concluded with closing remarks from current SAYANS president, ๐‰๐ก๐จ๐ง๐ฌ๐ค๐ข๐ž ๐Œ๐ฎ๐ซ๐š๐ค๐š๐ฆ๐ข. As the event adjourned at 7:00 p.m., the BUCS graduates and and their respective faculty implementers gathered for final photo opportunities to commemorate the milestone.

The activity was facilitated and organized by Dr. Mary Joy P. Canon, whose efforts greatly contributed to the success of the program.

โ€ŽThe program formally opened with remarks from Dr. Christian Y. Sy, Associate Dean of BUCS, followed by an inspirational message from Prof. Jocelyn E. Serrano, Dean of BUCS. The event was also graced by the presence of Dr. Baby Boy Benjamin D. Nebres III, President of Bicol University.

The 60th Biology Teachers Association National Convention and Scientific Sessions, held from April 16โ€“18, 2026 at Hotel St. Ellis in Albay, concluded on its third day with various poster presentations, scientific sessions, workshops, and award announcements that highlighted research excellence in the field of biology.

As part of the Poster Presentation, fourth-year BS Biology students from Bicol University College of Science were among those recognized in the Experimental Biology and Biomedical Science category for their study on the wound-healing potential of Arcangelisia flava leaves.

The study entitled โ€œIn vitro and In vivo Evaluation of the Skin Wound-Healing Activity of Arcangelisia flava (L.) Merr. Leafโ€ was conducted by Hazel Ruth P. Esquivel, Zedric Jave Lana, and Lovely May P. Lleva, under the mentorship of Lilibeth A. Cajuday.

The recognition reflects the commitment of the students and the institution to advancing scientific research and contributing to evidence-based studies in the field of biological sciences.

The BIOTA National Convention and Scientific Sessions 2026, held from April 16โ€“18, 2026 at Hotel St. Ellis in Albay, featured on its second day a series of Research Seminar Lectures, Scientific Poster Exhibits, and panel discussions that fostered meaningful exchange of knowledge and scientific inquiry.

The event also included the Young Biologist Forum, where selected biology students presented their undergraduate thesis papers, showcasing their research and academic contributions. Among the presenters, selected students from Bicol University College of Science were recognized as finalists for their study entitled โ€œMorphotaxonomy and 16S Metagenomic Profiling of Cyanobacterial Communities in Nag-Aso Boiling Lake, Manito, Albay.โ€ The study was conducted by Bernard D. Dawal, Ria B. Magistrado, and Althea Kathleen M. Soria, under the guidance of Dr. Charmaine A. Malonzo.

As part of the Poster Presentation, fourth-year BS Biology students from Bicol University College of Science also presented their study on the wound-healing potential of Arcangelisia flava leaves.
