Faculty researchers from Bicol University, led by the Vice President for Research, Development, and Extension - Dr. Lany L. Maceda, proudly joined the 2026 Annual Scientific Conference and 93rd General Membership Assembly of the DOST-National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP) today, March 13, 2026, at the Reception Hall, Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), Pasay City.
The event, themed "OneDOST4U: Solutions and Opportunities for All," brought together the nation's top researchers and scientists for a day of knowledge-sharing, recognition, and collaboration in advancing science and technology for national development.
Bicol University continues to strengthen its commitment to research excellence and innovation.

Agricultural biotechnology is reshaping how we safeguard 𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵, enhance 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗰𝗸 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀, and strengthen 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 in the Philippines. Themed Golden Roots, Living Futures: Celebrating Excellence Through the Decades, the evening was filled with nostalgia and inspiration as alumni, faculty, and students came together to honor the department's rich history.
We were honored by the presence and heartfelt messages of our University President, Dr. Baby Boy Benjamin D. Nebres III, and our VP for Academic Affairs, Dr. Julieta B. Borres. We also extend our gratitude to our Alumni Regent and BUGAII President, Atty. Alex Nepomuceno, and our esteemed Deans for their unwavering support.

The Bicol University - College of Science kicked off National Women's Month with a powerful opening program at the BUCS Building 1. It was a time filled with inspiring messages from our leaders and a shared commitment to honoring the strength and leadership of women in our community.
From the opening remarks by Dean Jocelyn E. Serrano to our collective "Wall of Commitment," today reminded us that the spirit of the Babaylan—leadership, healing, and wisdom—is very much alive in BUCS.

Congratulations to our outstanding BUeño tech innovators for their phenomenal victory at the 𝟏𝐬𝐭 𝐍𝐚𝐠𝐚 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐌𝐚𝐲𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐧, held on February 20–22, 2026 at Summit Hotels, Naga City!
Besting more than 200 entries from across the country, four (4) teams from Bicol University made it as top 15 finalist (top 5 per category). All of which are from the College of Science:
Team MyNagAlaga (Social Services): Jay Bombales, Karel Jhona Cestina, Vicente Bercasio II, John Dave Bañas, and Mark June Almojuela
Team Adjust (Environment): Maria Lourdes Miranda, Jenny Barbacena, and Vencer Lao
Team The Gastos Committee (Environment): Lorie Andelene Sariba, Kristina Margelino, Adornado Cabalbag, and Clyde Justine Nate
Team IVII (Social Services): Maria Faye Dela Peña, Julia Alexis Madrid, Ella Mae Medrano, Jian Paolo Navea, and Jan Joseph Tawingan
The final pitch presentation concluded with Team MyNagAlaga receiving the Grand Prize in the Social Services track, a distinction recognizing the merit and impact of their citizen-centric innovation. Alongside our team are the winners in the other categories: Team TBA (Environment) from University of Nueva Caceres and Team DND (Health) from University of the Philippines.
