Today is the Memorial of St. Alphonsus de Liguori (1696-1787). Alphonsus was a great preacher of the Gospel to the poor. His charity and apostolic spirit led him to found the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer to carry on this work. He sent his Redemptorists, as our Lord did the Apostles, into the countryside and the market towns and villages, to announce the Kingdom of God. He became Bishop of Sant' Agata dei Goti, near Naples, and died at the age of ninety, in 1787. For his great works on Moral Theology he has been declared a Doctor of the Church.

OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

The Divine Word College of Legazpi (DWCL) has been made aware of a social media post by an unidentified individual containing an alleged bomb threat and statements that may be construed as threats of violence against the institution.

At this time, the authenticity and credibility of the post have not yet been established. Nevertheless, as part of its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of its students, employees, and other stakeholders, the College has immediately activated appropriate precautionary security measures.

DWCL is closely coordinating with the Philippine National Police (PNP) and other concerned law enforcement agencies to facilitate the appropriate investigation, conduct a thorough threat assessment, and implement the necessary security protocols. The College has likewise intensified campus security measures and continues to monitor the situation closely.

We encourage everyone to remain calm, stay vigilant, promptly report any suspicious persons, objects, or activities to the Security Office or school authorities, and refrain from sharing unverified information that may cause unnecessary fear or confusion.

The safety and well-being of the entire DWCL community remain our highest priority. The College will continue to provide official updates as verified information becomes available.
