On April 30, 2026, FABLAB Bicol conducted a strategic technical visit to the DOST Regional Office 5 in Rawis, Legazpi City. The primary objective of this engagement was to provide essential assistance to DOST-V in the preparation and facility setup of the 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 (𝐀𝐌𝐂𝐞𝐧) 𝐁𝐢𝐜𝐨𝐥.

This collaborative effort serves as a critical precursor to the facility's official launch scheduled for 𝐌𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟓, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔. By participating in pilot-testing and collaborative prototyping sessions, the team aims to ensure that the facility is fully optimized for regional researchers, faculty, and innovators. This partnership highlights the synergy between Bicol University’s design expertise and the state-of-the-art additive manufacturing capabilities of AMCen.

We look forward to the successful inauguration of this premier satellite hub, which stands to modernize the industrial landscape of the Bicol Region through advanced 3D printing and scanning technologies.

By familiarizing the 𝑩𝑺 𝑬𝑬𝑻 students with these laboratory assets, the college continues to support their academic development and technical proficiency.

On April 14, 2026, FABLAB Bicol convened with representatives from various Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) offices within Albay to discuss a strategic partnership. The meeting centered on a collaborative project specifically designed to address the socio-economic needs of Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) and their families.

The session was graced by key BJMP officials, including Acting Chief of the Regional Welfare and Development Division, JINSP Anita T. Andueza, and Jail Superintendent of Legazpi City Jail, JSUPT Tedler K. Samonte, both of whom provided valuable insights for the project’s development.

Director Alfonso M. Peñol Jr. represented FABLAB BicoL and active extension practioner from College of Industrial Technology Prof. Joseph Bustamante, presenting the project framework and technical components during the deliberation.

We anticipate a seamless partnership and remain steadfast in our commitment to the success of this meaningful initiative.

The strategic planning was a success! Last 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝟓-𝟔, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, we gathered at the Bernese Hotel, Guinobatan, Albay 🏨✨ under the theme "𝙲𝚛𝚊𝚏𝚝𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝙵𝚞𝚝𝚞𝚛𝚎: 𝚂𝚝𝚛𝚊𝚝𝚎𝚐𝚒𝚌 𝙳𝚒𝚛𝚎𝚌𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗𝚜 𝚏𝚘𝚛 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝙵𝚊𝚋 𝙻𝚊𝚋." The event was a powerful mix of 𝐈𝐍𝐍𝐎𝐕𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 & 𝐀𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍! 💡🔥

Sessions kicked off with 𝙸𝚗𝚗𝚘𝚟𝚊𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗 & 𝙴𝚍𝚞𝚌𝚊𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗 and effective 𝙵𝚊𝚋 𝙻𝚊𝚋 𝚒𝚖𝚙𝚕𝚎𝚖𝚎𝚗𝚝𝚊𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗. 🛠️ The team dived deep into 𝐒𝐖𝐎𝐓 𝐀𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐬, a 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧-𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰, and intensive workshops on 𝚂𝚝𝚛𝚊𝚝𝚎𝚐𝚒𝚌 𝙸𝚜𝚜𝚞𝚎𝚜 and 𝙶𝚘𝚊𝚕-𝚜𝚎𝚝𝚝𝚒𝚗𝚐. 🎯

Our very own FabLab Bicol Director, Mr. Alfonso M. Peñol, Jr., took the stage as a Resource Person to share his expertise on 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐞𝐬. 📦💡 His session focused on helping our local food processors bridge the gap between functional design and market competitiveness.

But the innovation didn't stop at the lecture! 🛠️ A true highlight was the collaborative energy in the room as our Bachelor in Industrial Design interns from the Bicol University College of Industrial Technology stepped up to lead 𝐨𝐧𝐞-𝐨𝐧-𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬. 🧑‍🎨📐

These young designers applied their skills to help 30 MSMEs across Albay—from processed foods to wearables—refine their logos and enhance their product identities. We are thrilled to see our students and mentors working together to empower local enterprises! 🌟
