โThe Bicol University Graduate School Students Alliance for Gender Equality proudly attended the 2025 MaGADyon Awards, themed โLead Like Babaylan: Filipinas.โ The event celebrated the strength, leadership, and transformative roles of Filipino women, drawing inspiration from the babaylan as a symbol of empowerment, wisdom, and resilience.
Through their participation, the organization demonstrated its continued commitment to advocating for gender equality and womenโs empowerment, aligning with the values highlighted during Womenโs Month. The MaGADyon Awards served as a platform to honor outstanding Filipinas who have made significant contributions to their communities and various fields, inspiring the attendees to further promote inclusive leadership and social change.
The experience provided the members with valuable insights and motivation to strengthen their initiatives, reinforcing their role as advocates for safe, equitable, and empowering spaces for all.โ

LOOK: HAPPENING NOW!
In celebration of National Womenโs Month 2026, the Bicol University Graduate School Student Alliance for Gender Equality (BUGS SAGE) successfully conducted an orientation on the Safe Spaces Act (RA 11313). The activity was facilitated by Mr. Adrian Bodopol Adrian DraeChairperson of BUGS SAGE, with the goal of strengthening institutional mechanisms and fostering a more inclusive and safe community environment.
The initiative was carried out in partnership with the local government unit of Barangay Dap-Dap, Legazpi City, with the full support of Punong Barangay Glenn J. Barcelon and the barangay officials. As part of the program, advocacy materials were distributed, and exhibits highlighting gender and development (GAD) programs of Bicol Universityโthrough CGAD and BU-IDEAโwere showcased to raise awareness and promote gender sensitivity.
To further enrich the activity, interviews with empowered women in the community were conducted, allowing participants to hear real-life experiences and inspiring stories of resilience and leadership. In addition, a focus group discussion was held to provide a platform for participants to share insights, concerns, and perspectives on gender issues and community safety.
The event concluded with a meaningful pledge of commitment from the participantsโcomprising womenโs organizations, 4Ps beneficiaries, men, youth, and other community sectorsโto actively support efforts in ending violence against women and promoting gender equality.

Planning in Motion for Womenโs Month 2026!
Today, BUGS SAGE Council gathered at Lotus Blu Hotel, Legazpi City to finalize preparations for two upcoming activities this March 2026 in Celebration of National Womenโs Month.
The meeting focused on strengthening coordination, program flow and logistics for the upcoming โSafe Spaces, Stronger Institutions: A Womenโs Month Celebration Seminar on Gender Responsive Policies and Inclusive Academic Environments.
Discussions centered on ensuring meaningful participation from community stakeholders, confirming resource speakers and aligning program details to promote gender responsive policies, safe spaces, and inclusive academic environments
This planning session reflects the commitment of the organizers and partners to deliver impactful initiatives that advocates for gender equality and empowered communities.
