Today, we celebrate Pentecost Sunday, the glorious fulfillment of Christโs promise to send the Holy Spirit upon His disciples.
Fifty days after Easter, the Apostles gathered together in prayer with the Blessed Virgin Mary when suddenly a mighty wind filled the house, and tongues of fire came to rest upon them. They were filled with the Holy Spirit and were transformed from fearful followers into courageous witnesses of the Gospel.
Pentecost is known as the birth of the Church, for it was through the power of the Holy Spirit that the mission of Christ began to spread throughout the world. The same Spirit that strengthened the Apostles continues to guide, sanctify, and renew the Church even today.
May this sacred solemnity remind us to open our hearts to the gifts of the Holy Spirit โ wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord โ so that we too may live with faith, courage, and love in serving God and others.
And as the Apostles were sent forth to proclaim the Good News to all nations, may we also become instruments of Christโs peace and truth in the world today.

Today, we celebrate the Solemnity of the Ascension of Our Lord into Heaven, the glorious moment when Jesus Christ ascended to the right hand of the Father after His Resurrection.
Forty days after Easter, Christ gathered His disciples and entrusted them with the mission to proclaim the Gospel to all nations. Before ascending into Heaven, He reminded them that they would not be abandoned, for the Holy Spirit would come upon them and strengthen them in faith.
The Ascension is not the departure of Christ from His people, but the fulfillment of His promise to remain with us always. As He entered into heavenly glory, He opened the gates of Heaven for humanity and called us to fix our hearts not only on earthly things, but on the eternal kingdom of God.
May this solemnity remind us that while our Lord ascended into Heaven, His presence remains alive in the Church, in the Holy Eucharist, and in every act of love and mercy we offer to others.
And as the disciples were sent forth with courage and hope, may we also continue the mission of Christ here on earth.

On May 6, the Senior High School Grade 12 students solemnly gathered at the Nativity Chapel to attend their Graduation Thanksgiving Giving Mass, a meaningful celebration held in thanksgiving for the blessings, guidance, and achievements they received throughout their academic journey. The Holy Mass was principally presided over by Rev. Fr. Nielo M. Cantilado, SVD, President of Divine Word College of Legazpi, who led the graduating students in prayer as they prepared to embark on a new chapter of their lives. The celebration served as a moment of reflection, gratitude, and thanksgiving to the Almighty God for His continuous grace and providence throughout their years of study.
In his inspiring homily, Rev. Fr. Nielo M. Cantilado, SVD, emphasized the importance of striving for excellence while remaining grounded in faith and good values. Reflecting on the Gospel of Matthew about being the salt of the earth and the light of the world, he reminded the students that as learners of Divine Word College of Legazpi, they are called to become instruments of goodness and hope wherever they may go. He encouraged the graduating batch with these words: โGo forthโStay pure and season the world with the love of the Divine Word.โ His message challenged the students to live with integrity, share kindness, and shine as examples of Christ-centered leadership in society.
The Mass became not only a celebration of academic milestones but also a testament to the faith, unity, and spirit of service that the students have nurtured during their years in school. As they move forward toward graduation and future endeavors, may they continue to carry with them the values of humility, excellence, and devotion instilled by the institution.

In todayโs Gospel, Jesus Christ presents the parable of the shepherd and says of Himself, โI am the gate for the sheep.โ The Church celebrates today as "Good Shepherd Sunday", praying that those who aspire to the priesthood and religious life may faithfully follow the Lordโs will and always listen attentively to His call. Earlier this morning, the Assistant Secretary General for Education of the Society of the Divine Word, Fr. John Szukalski, SVD, celebrated the mass at the DWCL Nativity Chapel together with his SVD Confreres. After the Mass, he approached these altar servers and encouraged them to discover their vocation, specially for the priesthood. Let us pray together that the Lord may grant abundant vocations to the Church
