PUBLIC ADVISORY!

Pursuant to Memorandum Circular No. 114 and Administrative Order No. 68, Series of 2026, please be informed that the Bicol University Animal Care and Use Committee (BU ACUC) will be implementing the following work schedule:

Office Hours:
Monday to Thursday
8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Friday: Work from Home (WFH) - Personnel will be working remotely, but will continue to render services.

FINALLY!

Registration for the on-site training in laboratory animal handling for BU students and faculty researchers is ongoing. This activity is initiated by the BU Animal Care and Use Committee (BU ACUC), which will be held on January 30, 2026, at the BU College of Science, West Campus, Legazpi City.

TRAINING ALERT!!

The 3rd batch of participants for the Laboratory Animal Handling Workshop is now open. This workshop aims to provide hands-on training to improve the quality of research conducted on animals and to disseminate the roles and functions of the Committee. Target participants include faculty members, staff, and students involved in activities with the use of laboratory animals. This will be held on December 5, 2025, at the BU College of Science, Legazpi City.

The BU ACUC conducted the 1st Batch of Orientation and Training on Laboratory Animal Handling at BU College of Science, Legazpi City, on August 7, 2025. Participants are students from the College of Science-Biology Department, College of Nursing, BU Polangui, and BU Tabaco. Also present are the members of the Committee who were the facilitators and resource speakers during the activity.

The 2nd and 3rd batches of this training will be in September and October 2025. Further announcements and details will be disseminated for joining this workshop. Interested participants may contact the Committee through [email protected].

The online registration for the first batch of participants for the Orientation and Laboratory Animal Handling Workshop is now officially closed. This training is scheduled for June 2025; the venue is yet to be announced.

We are truly grateful for the overwhelming support for this undertaking. Other interested participants can join the next batches in August and October 2025. Stay tuned for more updates!

The Bicol University Animal Care and Use Committee (BU ACUC) is pleased to announce that registration is now open for this year's first batch of participants for the "Orientation and Training on Laboratory Animal Handling." The training will be held onsite on June 6, 2025.

This activity is exclusively open to all the researchers, faculty, and students within Bicol University. The hands-on training will equip all participants with appropriate skills before working with laboratory animals, ensuring that ethical and legal standards are followed.

The 3rd Batch of Participants during the BU ACUC Orientation and Training on Laboratory Animal Handling was held last November 13, 2024, at BU College of Science, Legazpi City, Albay.

Lecture discussions were conducted to inform the participants with regard to the function and roles of the Committee. This is to advocate the ethical and humane use of laboratory animals in animal experiments and various procedures. Practical applications and skills were taught during the hands-on activities where participants learned basic animal handling and restraint and the different routes of drug administration.
