In observance of Ninoy Aquino Day, we remember the courage and sacrifice of Ninoy Aquino Jr. and his stand for freedom and democracy.

May his legacy continue to remind us of the importance of standing up for what is right and valuing the freedom we have today.

Please be advised that there will be no classes and no work operations on August 21, 2026 (Friday) in observance of Ninoy Aquino Day.

With the rainy season underway, sudden downpours and wet conditions can affect our daily commute and activities. Here are a few reminders to help keep everyone safe:

☔ Bring an umbrella or raincoat and keep one accessible when heading out.

🎒 Protect your belongings, especially gadgets, documents, and other school materials, from rain and moisture.

👟 Take extra care on wet and slippery surfaces, particularly stairs, walkways, and entrances.

🚗 Allow extra travel time as heavy rain may cause traffic and transportation delays.

🌊 Avoid passing through flooded areas whenever possible, especially when the depth or condition of the water is uncertain.

⚡ Keep away from exposed electrical outlets, wires, and equipment when they are wet or located near water.

📱 Keep updated on weather conditions before traveling, especially when heavy rainfall is expected.

In these times mga COMMare and COMMpare, stay prepared, stay alert, and take the necessary precautions whenever the weather changes.

𝐀 𝐑𝐄𝐂𝐀𝐏 | 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐌 𝐒𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐬: 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐖𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫, 𝐖𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭

Our AB Communication Fellowship Program officially started with opening remarks from 𝐌𝐬. 𝐑𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐧𝐚 𝐆. 𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚, 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, who warmly welcomed everyone and reminded us to make the most of our college journey as Communication students.

We were also privileged to hear from 𝐌𝐬. 𝐉𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫 𝐑𝐢𝐨 𝐀𝐥𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐫, Brand Communication & PR Lead at RCBC and a proud UPHSD BA Communication alumna. Through her talk, "𝑩𝒆𝒚𝒐𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑯𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒔: 𝑯𝒐𝒘 𝑺𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒈𝒊𝒄 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑺𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒆𝒔 𝑶𝒓𝒈𝒂𝒏𝒊𝒛𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔," she shared valuable insights and real-life experiences that inspired us to look beyond the classroom and see the impact of communication in the real world.

Of course, the day wasn't just about learning! COMMates got to enjoy two fun activities that brought everyone together. Whether you came with friends or met new ones along the way, the room was filled with smiles, laughter, and lots of good energy. 🤍

The program continued with the OPBN General Orientation, led by 𝐌𝐫. 𝐉𝐨𝐞 𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐲 𝐀𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐨, Associate Producer of ALTACOMM and Production Consultant of OPBN. During the session, students got to know more about OPBN, its activities, and the opportunities it offers to aspiring broadcasters and communicators. To end the day, everyone joined one last activity that kept the good vibes going and gave COMMates one more chance to connect, have fun, and make memories together.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and made our first fellowship program a success! Here's to more learning, more friendships, and more moments that remind us why, in every season, we always find ways to connect. 🍃✨

As communicators, we believe that every voice has the power to inform, inspire, and make a difference. As Maya Angelou once said, “𝙏𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙣𝙤 𝙜𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙖𝙜𝙤𝙣𝙮 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙣 𝙗𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙣 𝙪𝙣𝙩𝙤𝙡𝙙 𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙮 𝙞𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙙𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪.” And as communicators, we have the power to bring these stories to life, giving voices to ideas, experiences, and perspectives that deserve to be heard.
