Aquino Day is a 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐧𝐨𝐧-𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐲 in the Philippines observed annually on 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 21 ✊🏻🦸

It commemorates the assassination of former 𝑺𝒆𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒐𝒓 𝑩𝒆𝒏𝒊𝒈𝒏𝒐 "𝑵𝒊𝒏𝒐𝒚" 𝑨𝒒𝒖𝒊𝒏𝒐 𝑱𝒓. in 1983, whose death intensified opposition to the Marcos dictatorship and led to the 1986 𝘗𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘗𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳 𝘙𝘦𝘷𝘰𝘭𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 👥
