LESSONS FROM ANIMATION
CRAFT TAKES TIME...AND HEART
Animation is a time consuming and pain staking process. But it is a very rewarding one. No matter what new software or advances in technology comes along, artists who love what they do places all their effort in their art. And everything is done with care and love.
IT IS A TEAM EFFORT
If you look at the end credits of any film, especially in animation, there are lots of teams. Conceptualization, coloring, keyframe animation, clean up in betweens, etc. All of them are artist contributing to one goal. To make you, the audience, laugh, cry, entertained, or enchanted. Unlike just doing one artwork, or a drawing, our work has impact on other departments. Quality of work, no matter the style, cannot be done half hearted. And each person in the team is important. Your talent and effort is as important as the next.
EVERY FRAME HAS A SOUL
Animation is more than just one drawing. Nor is it just a series of drawings. It is one scene, acted out with your pencil. Just like an actor, an animator expresses soul. The trick is to express that soul in every frame.
There is technical know how, that is important. The core of it though is the heart. That is what every artist has.
Animation and its applications, whether games, design, or storyboarding, is one of those skills that can only be performed by people with patience, eye for detail, relentlessness and passion.
