Basac NHS Bags Top Spots in Division Schools Press Conference ‘26

TAMBISAN, SIQUIJOR, Siquijor — Basac National High School (BNHS) showcased its journalistic talents as it secured top spots during the Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC) 2026 held at Tambisan National High School on September 4, 2026.

Leading the school’s winning entries was Xian Paul J. Calisquiz, who clinched first place in Editorial Cartooning – Filipino under the guidance of his coach, Ms. Rachell Mae C. Abapo. With his impressive performance, Calisquiz earned the opportunity to represent the Schools Division of Siquijor at the Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC), which will be held in Bago City, Negros Occidental.

Meanwhile, BNHS also secured second place in Radio Scriptwriting and Broadcasting – English through its team composed of Justin Drew G. Pomicpic (Anchor 1), Hyacinth Anne S. Abapo (Anchor 2), Jingrene Stephen L. Arcillas (Technical Application Director), and News Presenters: Rhian Jane Sayre, Cheyann Khier E. Dominguez, Kaye K. Igdon, and Decee Farinas.

The radio broadcasting team was coached by Mrs. Lou Valirie B. Monte and Mrs. Hazel Jane S. Magtagad, both English teachers of the school.
The achievements reflect the students’ dedication, creativity, teamwork, and commitment to campus journalism. The victories also highlight the continuous support and guidance of their coaches and the school community in developing students’ skills in journalism and broadcasting.

As Calisquiz moves on to the regional competition, Basac National High School looks forward to another opportunity to showcase the talents and journalistic excellence of its learners on a wider stage.

Basac NHS, matagumpay na idinaos ang Joint BSP-GSP School Camp ‘26

Matagumpay na isinagawa ng Basac National High School ang Joint BSP-GSP School Camp 2026 noong Agosto 20–21, 2026, na dinaluhan ng mga kasapi ng Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) at Girl Scouts of the Philippines (GSP) sa isang dalawang-araw na kampong nakatuon sa pagpapaunlad ng pamumuno, disiplina, kahandaan, at diwa ng paglilingkod.

‎Sinimulan ang unang araw sa tent pitching, na sinundan ng “Pagkaing Pinoy” Cook-Off, kung saan ipinamalas ng BSP ang kanilang Lechon Manok, habang itinampok naman ng GSP ang “Kangkong Kitchen Challenge: From Local Vegetable to Creative,” na humubog sa pagiging malikhain at praktikal ng mga kalahok sa paghahanda ng pagkain. Pagsapit ng gabi, nakiisa ang mga scout sa Torch Parade na sinamahan namn ng mga Band Member's at Campfire Program, na nagpatibay sa kanilang pagkakaisa at samahan.

‎Sa ikalawang araw, nakatuon ang mga gawain sa Emergency Preparedness and Community Service. Kabilang sa mga isinagawang aktibidad ang Scouts Own, Reveille/Zumba, Fancy Drills Contest, Troop Formation, Basic Hand and Whistle Signals, at iba't ibang Simultaneous Scouting Activities tulad ng First Aid and Bandaging, Compass Reading and Land Navigation, Blindfold Challenge, Fire Safety, Fire Run, Scout Commando, Spider Web, Hiking, Community Clean-Up Drive, Awarding and Closing Ceremony, at Break Camp.

‎Sa pamamagitan ng dalawang araw na kampong ito, higit na nahubog ang kakayahan ng mga scout sa pamumuno, pagtutulungan, disiplina, katatagan, at paglilingkod sa komunidad, na nagpapatunay sa patuloy na pagsasabuhay ng mga pagpapahalaga ng scouting sa Basac National High School.
