Siquijor State College (SSC) strengthened its commitment to campus safety and disaster preparedness through an Earthquake Drill Orientation conducted by Dr. Eric Mark E. Opaon for all Class Mayors in preparation for the Simultaneous National Earthquake Drill (NSED) on September 10, 2026. The orientation emphasized proper earthquake response, including โ€œDuck, Cover, and Hold,โ€ orderly evacuation, effective communication, and cooperation during emergencies. Class Mayors were also reminded of their important role in guiding fellow students and promoting a culture of safety, preparedness, and resilience throughout the SSC community.

Let us remember:

DUCKโ€“ Get down low and protect yourself.
COVER โ€“ Take cover under a sturdy table or desk and protect your head and neck.
HOLDโ€“ Hold on until the shaking stops.

Preparedness is everyoneโ€™s responsibility. Let us continue building a safe, prepared, and disaster-resilient Siquijor State College community. ๐Ÿ’™๐ŸŒ

HEY, STUDENTS! READY FOR THE SHAKE?

NATIONAL SIMULTANEOUS EARTHQUAKE DRILL (NSED)

TOMORROW | SEPTEMBER 10, 2026

When the alarm sounds, DONโ€™T PANIC. KNOW WHAT TO DO.

3 WORDS TO REMEMBER:

DUCK โ€” Get down and protect yourself.
COVER โ€” Get under a sturdy table or desk and protect your head and neck.
HOLD โ€” Hold on until the shaking stops.

STUDENT REMINDERS:
NO RUNNING. NO PUSHING. NO PANIC.
Keep your phone accessibleโ€”but donโ€™t let it distract you.
Stay away from windows, glass, shelves, and anything that can fall.
After the shaking, evacuate calmly using the designated route. Cover your head until you reach the Oval.
Go directly to your assigned assembly area (SSC Oval).
Listen to your instructors, marshals, and safety personnel.
Look out for your classmates, especially those who may need assistance.

THIS IS A DRILL, BUT YOUR SAFETY IS REAL.

A few minutes of preparation today can make a life-saving difference tomorrow.

DUCK. COVER. HOLD. EVACUATE. STAY SAFE.
