SUSPENDED ANG KLASI UGMANG ADLAWA

As a precautionary measure, classes are suspended tomorrow, Thursday, February 5, in all levels of public schools, while private schools may suspend classes at the discretion of their school management, to ensure the safety of our students. Kaganihang hapon, I convened the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council for a Pre-Disaster Risk Assessment (PDRA) together with City DRRMO Head Nagiel Bañacia, Mr. Andy Berame and PAGASA Visayas, represented by Engr. Jhomer Eclarino, who provided a comprehensive briefing on Tropical Depression Basyang, including the latest weather advisory and forecast track.

We discussed preparedness measures to address the possible effects of TD Basyang, with PAGASA reporting continuous updates to ensure timely and accurate information. I extend my sincere thanks to our Vice Mayor Celsi Sitoy, City Councilors, Barangay Captains, Department Heads, DepEd LLC represented by ASDS Dr. Ronald Ferrer, LLCPO led by PCOL Augusto Daskeo, Coast Guard, Red Cross, Pagtambayayong Foundation, BJMP Lapu-Lapu, and all partner agencies for their continued commitment to public safety. There will be no class tomorrow January 28, 2026 in submission to the announcement of our city mayor. All students will be back on January 29, 2026

ANNOUNCEMENT | NO FACE-TO-FACE CLASSES ON JANUARY 28, 2026

In adherence to Division Memorandum Nos. 75 and 78 from DEPED Office of the Schools Division Superintendent of Lapu-Lapu City, face-to-face classes are suspended on January 28, 2026 in line with our hosting of the ASEAN Tourism Forum 2026. This measure is to help ease traffic and ensure the safe and orderly movement of ASEAN dignitaries throughout the city.

The suspension applies to all public and private schools on the mainland of Lapu-Lapu City, excluding schools in the Olango District. Classes will shift to Alternative Delivery Modes (ADM) for the day. Teachers are required to report to their respective schools for monitoring and may conduct meetings, Learning Action Cell (LAC) sessions, and other school-related activities.

We thank you for your cooperation as we ensure the smooth and successful hosting of this prestigious international event.
