We chose “compassion” as today’s Word of the Day to remind everyone that in times of crisis, kindness, empathy, and unity become more than just values — they become necessities.

The recent earthquake in Cebu did more than just shake the ground beneath our feet — it shook lives, disrupted families, and left many in fear and uncertainty. Buildings can be rebuilt, and roads can be repaired, but the emotional impact and the needs of those affected require human connection, support, and care.

In these challenging moments, it is compassion that brings communities together. It is compassion that inspires volunteers to give their time, neighbors to share what little they have, and strangers to offer comfort. It moves us to act not because we are told to, but because we feel the pain of others as if it were our own.
