Marigondon National High School 3 x 3 Basketball Team once again dominated the court and was crowned as “CHAMPION” in the District Meet 2025, held at the Science and Technology Center Gym last October 7, 2025!

Led by our passionate Team Captain, Jake Oba-ob #15, together with the unstoppable trio Hernandez Jelo, Shawshaw Pino, and Daniel Franz Peralta, the team showed heart, discipline, and humility as they slayed the final round against the tough contenders from Ganaan Christian School.

This victory is not just about the gold — it’s about teamwork, perseverance, and faith. Thank you for bringing pride and inspiration to Marigondon National High School. Your dedication and sportsmanship remind us that success is sweeter when earned with humility and unity.

As our journey continues, we are honored to represent Unit 3 in the upcoming Unit Meet 2025 at the Indiana Aerospace University Gym this October 9, 2025.

Yesterday, our team fought with heart and pride as we defended our title in the District Meet 2025. Though we fell short in the final quarter against Ganaan Christian School, the spirit of Marigondonians still shines bright.

We may not have kept the crown as the “Home of the Champion,” but we stand tall—with courage, humility, and respect for the game we love. Defeat will never define us; it only strengthens our bond, our passion, and our determination to rise again.

MNHS Basketball Team welcomes Coach Sherwin S. Fuentes to the MNHS family as our new 5x5 Basketball Coach.

Coach officially joined MNHS on September 2, 2025, bringing with him both strong academic background and extensive experience in the field of sports and education. He is a proud graduate of the Bachelor of Technical Education, major in Food and Services Management, a course that reflects his commitment to discipline, management, and leadership.

Before becoming part of MNHS, Coach Sherwin has served in various schools where he honed his teaching and coaching skills. He spent four years at Rizwoods Colleges Inc., and later extended his expertise to Mactan National High School and Nemesio-Epifania Taneo Memorial High School, where he both taught and guided students for several months.

Beyond the classroom, he is deeply passionate about basketball—a sport where he has built an impressive track record as both player and coach. His coaching journey is filled with notable achievements such as leading teams in DLLCESA 2023 (District 4) in both 5x5 and 3x3 categories where they emerged as placers, and guiding Team Blue Glaucus during the 2023 Intramurals. He was also part of the championship run in DLLCESA 2022 (District 4) – 5x5, served as one of the Coaching Staff in Intramurals 2022 at Rizwoods Colleges, and mentored the Blue Team during the 2021 Intramurals. His passion for the game dates back even further, being actively involved in DLLCESA 2019 (District 4) – 5x5.

With his dedication, knowledge, and experience, Sir Sherwin is set to mold not only skillful basketball players but also disciplined athletes who embody teamwork, respect, and perseverance. His arrival signals a stronger and brighter future for MNHS Basketball, and we are excited for the journey ahead under his leadership.
