Brigada Pagbasa 2023: On August 20, 2022, the Brigada Pagbasa, an after-school reading program implemented by the Department of Education in response to the challenge of making every learner a proficient reader, commenced. Schools across the country were tasked with helping learners develop their reading skills. On April 3, 2023, was the culmination and giving of certificates for the noble deeds of our pre-service teacher who volunteered as reading partners for the said program, held at Babag National High School (BNHS).

In partnership with BNHS and Lapu-Lapu City College (LLCC), Filipino and English major student volunteers were able to help the selected high school students improve their abilities to read in terms of independence and comprehension.

The beneficiaries were extremely grateful for those who contributed to the success of the program: The LLCC administrators lead by Dr. Maria Noeleen M. Borbajo, VP Academics and College of Education Dean; Mr. Ricardo T. Cayacap Jr., BNHS Principal; Ms. Jennifer N. Baguio and Ms. Ivy Marie Z. Seville- Phil-IRI Coodinators; Ms. Ivan Jane M. Tubo- LLCC Community Extension Coordinator; faculty members; ComEx officers; and most of all, the student volunteers.

This program extends the attainment of knowledge and the opportunity to grow, championing literacy one reader at a time.

April 27, 2023 | Kadaugan sa Mactan

“Victory belongs to the most persevering” - Napoleon Bonaparte

The most jovial, memorable, and stirring celebration for the Oponganons is now here! Witness this day as we celebrate this remarkable day to our pride, Lapu-Lapu!

Today, April 27th, we commemorate the most historical battle between our natives and the Spaniards. The Supreme Student Government celebrates this day with the theme, “Honoring the bravery and triumphs over adversity.” According to Republic Act No. 11040, every April 27 of the year is declared to be a special nonworking holiday in the City of Lapu-Lapu. Therefore, classes on this day shall be suspended.

There are so much to look forward for this festive event. Aside from the re-enactment of the Battle on Mactan Island, there are also fun kick-off and interesting events to be witnessed on. These events are namely Rampada sa Kalsada, Food Festival, Showdown, and many more! Due to its various and colorful aspects, we can attract both local and foreign tourists.

Let us raise and clench our hands with the proudest pride as we celebrate the Victory of Mactan! The battle wherein the history shifted to our ancestors living here in our land. This event is not just about fun and cheerful moments, but this annual event has relevance and message of the said festivity wherein we have to fight— for freedom, for good governance, and for a truly sustainable development that is inclusive. Have a festive day, LLCCians!

Valentine's Day is just around the corner! As we celebrate the month of love, it is now the time for us to express and confess our feelings to someone who makes us feel the butterflies in our stomachs.

Feeling rainbows and butterflies? We, the Supreme Student Government (SSG), prepared a love wall for the fellow LLCCians! The Wall of Love and Appreciation is an activity for students to express themselves and/or share messages and confessions with someone they adore.

The SSG, which works to provide a secure space for students to convey their feelings while upholding a courteous and welcoming atmosphere for the college community, is in charge of the Wall of Love and Appreciation. We encourage students of Lapu-Lapu City College (LLCC) to put messages or confessions in the heart figures posted on the wall. If you like to put messages, the wall is located near the main gate of the school.

Fellow LLCCians, now is the time and chance for you to confess your feelings to someone you love. Who knows? With just the message or confession that you will write on the wall, it will be the reason for you to find your "the one."

See you there, LLCCians!

TABANG alang sa NASUNOGAN: A Donation Drive for the Affected Fire Residents

Good afternoon, LLCCians.

Everyone must have heard the terrible news scattering all over the media about the sudden and huge fire that hit the residential area of Barangay Looc, Mandaue City, at midnight. Over 900 families were greatly affected, including some of our students here at Lapu-Lapu City College. That is why the SSG, along with the ComEx, would like to ask for your genuine support and wholehearted donation for the affected residents and our co-students who experienced the casualties.

You may donate food, canned goods, noodles, water, clothing, pillows, sleeping mats, hygiene kits, sanitizers, ready-to-eat meals, etc. You may also donate any monetary value (GCash is accepted) as long as it is from the heart for the sake of the affected residents.

This donation drive is effective tomorrow up until November 29, 2022 (Tuesday). You may gather or collect the donations first as a section. Then, assigned SSG and ComEx officers in each department will collect it once done. For more queries, you may message the page or one of the SSG officers.

"A kind gesture can reach a wound that only compassion can heal."
