The Grade School and High School Guidance Offices organized the First General Assembly of GUGMA or Ginikanan Nagkahiusa Alang sa Gugma sa mga Anak for SY 2026–2027. The GUGMA Program was designed to cater to the needs of the spouses of our OFW parents, providing them with a supportive space where they can share experiences, strengthen their parenting skills, and gain valuable insights on supporting their children’s academic, emotional, and social well-being.

The assembly signaled the start of different activities for the members of the GUGMA association. May this be the start of something meaningful and productive.

GUGMA stands as a reminder that love knows no distance—and that together, as parents and as a school community, we can continue to create a caring and supportive environment where every child feels loved, guided, and valued.

SACS DAYS 2026 - DAY 1: CENTENNIAL TREE PLANTING

🌱 ROOTED IN THE PAST. GROWING INTO THE FUTURE. 🌳

As part of the 110th Foundation Anniversary of St. Alphonsus Catholic School (SACS), the Alphonsian community gathered for the meaningful Centennial Tree Planting Ceremony—a living symbol of our enduring faith, shared legacy, and hope for generations to come.

The ceremony brought together the Board of Trustees, administrators, the Daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, faculty and staff, alumni representatives, PTA Presidents, and the High School and Grade School Student Government Presidents. Each participant played a meaningful role—from planting the sapling, placing the soil, watering the tree, installing its protective fence, to setting the commemorative marker.

Two Centennial Trees were planted: one at the High School Campus and another at the Grade School Campus, in the front yard of the Sisters' Convent.

These trees are more than saplings. They are living monuments to 110 years of Catholic education—rooted in the sacrifices of those who came before us, nurtured by those who serve today, and entrusted to generations yet to come.

And as these trees grow, they will silently tell a story:

A story of faith planted by those who came before us.
A story of dedication nurtured by those who serve today.
A story of hope entrusted to those who will come tomorrow.

The participation of students, educators, administrators, alumni, parents, trustees, and representatives of the wider SACS community beautifully symbolizes that the future of St. Alphonsus Catholic School is a shared responsibility.

We do not simply inherit a 110-year legacy. We nurture it. We protect it. We add to it, and we pass it on.

May these Centennial Trees grow alongside the generations of Alphonsians who will continue to walk through the gates of SACS—reminding every one of us that great legacies, like great trees, begin with something small, are sustained through care, and flourish through generations.

SACS DAYS 2026 - DAY 1: UNVEILING OF THE NEW CENTENNIAL MARKER

A MARK OF OUR PAST. A SYMBOL OF OUR PRESENT. A MONUMENT TO OUR FUTURE. 🏛️✨

As St. Alphonsus Catholic School (Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu), Inc. celebrates its 110th Founding Anniversary, another historic chapter was etched into the story of the Alphonsian community through the unveiling of the new SACS Centennial Marker last July 31, 2026.

The new marker stands as a renewed and more enduring monument to the school's remarkable journey. It replaces the original Centennial Marker unveiled in 2016, during SACS' 100th Anniversary Celebration. While the first marker faithfully commemorated a century of Catholic education, the new structure was envisioned to be more permanent, stable, enduring, and monumental—a fitting testament to a legacy that continues to grow beyond a hundred years.

More than a structure of stone and form, the marker represents the 110-year journey of faith, education, service, sacrifice, and excellence that has shaped generations of Alphonsians.

It stands as a reminder of where we came from. It stands as a witness to who we are. And it stands as a promise of what we continue to build for generations yet to come.

Adding a deeply meaningful dimension to this milestone is the fact that the new Centennial Marker was designed by a proud SACS alumnus, Ar. Shem Anysius Caballes, Batch 2015. His contribution beautifully embodies the very legacy that the marker represents.

The marker was formally unveiled on July 31, 2026, by Sr. Ruth Yburan, FDNSC, DOLSH Philippines Regional Leader, and Rev. Fr. Edwin Borlasa, MSC, Provincial Superior of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart (MSC) Philippine Province.

A moment when a new monument was unveiled, not simply to commemorate the past, but to proclaim that the Alphonsian legacy entrusted to us by those who came before continues to live on.

May this new marker stand for generations as a silent yet powerful witness to the countless lives touched, formed, inspired, and transformed within the walls of St. Alphonsus Catholic School.

May every Alphonsian who passes by it remember:
We are heirs of a great legacy.
We are stewards of a sacred mission.
And we are builders of the future.

SACS DAYS 2026 - DAY 1 : INSTITUTIONAL HOLY MASS

On July 31, 2026, the St. Alphonsus Catholic School (Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu), Inc. community gathered in faith and gratitude for a truly historic Institutional Holy Mass celebrating the Feast of St. Alphonsus Maria de Liguori, our beloved patron saint, and the 110th Founding Anniversary of SACS.

Held at 8:00 a.m. at the SACS High School Covered Court, the Holy Mass served as the solemn and meaningful kick-off to the two-day celebration of our patronal feast and 110 years of Alphonsian education, formation, service, heritage, legacy, and excellence.

The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Rev. Fr. Edwin Borlasa, MSC, Provincial Superior of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart (MSC) Philippine Province, and concelebrated by 13 priests, making the gathering a profound expression of communion, gratitude, and shared mission.

United around the altar were the Alphonsian students, teachers, staff, administrators, members of the Board of Trustees, alumni representatives, and PTA presidents, together with the Benedictine Sisters and the Daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart. Their presence beautifully reflected the enduring relationships that have helped shape SACS and the deep-rooted heritage of Catholic SACS education that has flourished for 110 years.

The celebration was further graced by the presence of Dr. Rhodora Angela Fernandez Ferrer, Executive Director of the Private Education Assistance Committee (PEAC), whose presence added distinction to this historic milestone.

With grateful hearts, we look to the future with hope, love, and excellence, carrying forward the sacred legacy of 110 years of St. Alphonsus Catholic School for the greater glory of God.
