Great school years don’t prepare themselves; that’s where Brigada Eskwela comes in! From June 1–5, the community of Babag National High School - Senior High School is coming together once again to clean, repair, repaint, and revive our school in preparation for another exciting school year.

Students, parents, alumni, stakeholders, and volunteers are encouraged to take part in this year’s Brigada Eskwela through clean-up drives, repairs, donations, and other acts of service that will help ready the school for another academic year.

For those who wish to offer help or donate to the school, you may refer to the donation and assistance packages below to learn how you can contribute to this collective effort.

The Satellite proudly congratulates Den Vincent Puso for emerging as the Grand Winner of the Central Visayas-Wide Hybrid Speech Contest held at Palm Grass, The Cebu Heritage Hotel, last April 11, in celebration of the 128th Anniversary of the Battle of Tres de Abril.

Through his winning speech, “I Refuse To Leave,” Puso delivered a powerful message that resonated with both the audience and the panel of judges composed of SunStar Cebu Executive Publisher Nestor Ramirez, Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) Marlinda Angbetic Tan, and former UP Cebu University Student Council Chairperson Atty. Jay Pujanes.

Among the three representatives from the Lapu-Lapu City Division, Puso emerged not only as a finalist, but as the overall champion — the sole delegate from the division to reach the podium.

Your words carried conviction, courage, and patriotism worthy of recognition. Your speech became a testament that the youth still believe in the future of this nation.

BABAG 1, Lapu-Lapu City — Babag National High School - Senior High School (BNHS-SHS) successfully held its Library Turnover Ceremony on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 9:00 AM, marking an important step in promoting reading and improving literacy among students.

The event was attended by school officials headed by Assistant School Principal Nickjon C. Babatuon, together with generous partner organizations and donors, namely the Rotary Club of Cebu, Rotary District 3860, ONSEMI Cebu, St. Theresa’s College High School Batch ’80, and Second Wind Foundation. Their generosity helped provide books and learning materials that will benefit students and encourage a stronger culture of reading in the school.

Not every child knows how to explain what they feel. Some hide their struggles behind smiles, silence, or “I’m okay.” On this Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day, we are reminded that understanding a child’s emotions is not a weakness; it is a responsibility we all share.

Mental health challenges can affect anyone, regardless of age. That is why creating spaces filled with empathy, patience, and support matters more than ever. A child who feels heard today grows into someone who knows their voice matters tomorrow.

May we continue to build communities where children are free to speak, heal, and grow without fear of judgment. Because every young mind deserves care, compassion, and hope.
