Good day, LLCCians!
With the 2022 Philippine Elections fast approaching, the Educators’ Coven (EC) would like to remind and encourage every CoEd student to be politically and thoughfully evaluative when expressing opinions, especially online. Thus, let us avoid misunderstanding and misinterpretation, preventing any provocative actions from occurring.
Also, we discourage everyone from spreading hate speech/content that is politically driven or otherwise, but a positive stance is encouraged.
With this, the EC would also like to express its thoughts on the issue concerning students who conflict with their friends, loved ones, and classmates due to their political beliefs or positions:
“As pre-service teachers, EC would like to encourage all students in the College of Education (CoEd) to practice the principles in the Code of Ethics for Professional Teachers, as it will be our guide in our personal and professional development as students, citizens, and future educators (Particularly, Article 2, section 5).
We also discourage all CoEd students from participating in irresponsible use of the different social media platforms that promote hate speech, discrimination, and other forms of unethical conduct. In particular, the promotion of any political parties or biases that may result in bashing, mockery, and the like.
As a free country, we respect the expression of everyone, as each one of us is entitled to our own opinions. However, we encourage everyone to be responsible and evaluative with their expressions/opinions, especially on social media. Thus, maintaining respect with one another without mental reservation should be upheld at all times.”

Can a grievance be dealt with Informality?
An attempt should always be made to resolve a grievance as quickly as possible before it gets
to the formal stages. This maximises the opportunity for the issue to be resolved peacefully and
should help to preserve good students relations.
When dealing with this informally the Marshals should act as quickly as possible to:
receive the grievance;
make a judgement on it; and
deliver a decision.
and go through the following stages:
listen to students
explore the detail;
establish the students suggestion for resolution of the grievance;
consider the information that has been presented;
assess the impact;
respond;
explain the subsequent stages of the procedure; and
record the details.
What other support can be given?
It is not always possible to resolve all issues within any stage of the grievance procedure. In
these cases it may be considered appropriate to arrange additional support/counselling for the
Students.
