LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu – In line with its commitment to provide inclusive and accessible education for all, the Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division of Lapu-Lapu City, through Babag National High School – Senior High School Alternative Learning System (ALS), will conduct an ALS Senior High School Enrollment Caravan during the Lapu-Lapu City Government Caravan of Services and Job Fair on July 17, 2026, at Grand Mall Basak, Lapu-Lapu City.

The activity is organized in partnership with the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) of the Lapu-Lapu City Government and aims to bring educational opportunities closer to individuals seeking employment, career advancement, and academic completion.

The Enrollment Caravan specifically targets graduates of the old secondary education curriculum who have not earned a Senior High School diploma under the K to 12 Program, Senior High School learners who discontinued their studies, working students, job seekers, and employed individuals who aspire to complete their basic education while maintaining their jobs.

Through the flexible learning modality of the ALS Senior High School Program, learners are provided with the opportunity to continue their education without sacrificing their employment and family responsibilities. The program enables eligible learners to earn a recognized Senior High School diploma, opening pathways to higher education, technical-vocational training, and improved employment opportunities.

The participation of Babag National High School in the City Government's Caravan of Services and Job Fair reflects DepEd's continuing efforts to strengthen partnerships with local government units and other stakeholders in promoting lifelong learning and expanding access to quality education for all.

Interested applicants are encouraged to visit the ALS Senior High School Enrollment Caravan at Grand Mall Basak on July 17, 2026. Enrollment assistance, program orientation, and consultation services will be available throughout the event.

𝗙𝗘𝗔𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗘 |

Babag National High School – Senior High School Alternative Learning System (ALS) strengthened its engagement with industry partners through the presentation of 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗟𝗜𝗙𝗧 (𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀) during the MEPZ- Human Resource Association Board of Directors Meeting held at the plant site of On Semiconductor Philippines Inc. on March 13, 2025.
The meeting gathered fifteen (15) Board of Directors representing all the locator- companies within the Mactan Export Processing Zone, providing a strategic platform to introduce an education–industry partnership that expands access to Senior High School for working individuals.

Victor S. Recana III, ALS Focal Person of Babag National High School – Senior High School, together with Nickjohn Babatuon, Assistant School Principal II, participated in the meeting to present the objectives and implementation framework of Project LIFT. The participation of the school representatives was facilitated by Arlene Lim, Corporate Program Manager of On Semiconductor Philippines Inc., who extended the opportunity for the program to be introduced to the association’s leadership.

𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗟𝗜𝗙𝗧 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲-𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 initiative designed to provide accessible and flexible education for employees who completed the old secondary curriculum but have not yet obtained a Senior High School diploma. Through the program, employee-learners may continue working while completing their Senior High School education using modular learning materials, supported by regular teacher visits and academic monitoring.
During the meeting, the project highlighted how the Alternative Learning System (ALS) can be integrated into workplace settings through partnerships between Babag Senior High School and private companies. The initiative aligns with corporate social responsibility programs of participating companies by supporting workforce development and lifelong learning among employees.
The program specifically responds to the needs of employees within MEPZ companies who seek to improve their academic qualifications while maintaining their employment. By completing Senior High School through ALS, employee-learners gain opportunities to enhance their professional competencies, qualify for career advancement, and potentially pursue higher education in the future.
The presentation generated interest among members of the Human Resource Association, as the initiative offers a practical model for companies to support employee development while contributing to inclusive education. The engagement during the Board of Directors meeting marked an important step in strengthening collaboration between the education sector and industry partners, reinforcing the shared goal of providing accessible learning opportunities for working individuals.

Babag National High School – Senior High School and On Semiconductor Philippines, Inc. forged a landmark partnership through Project LIFT (Learning Integration for Future Transitions), a workplace-based Alternative Learning System program designed to serve working individuals who are graduates of the old secondary curriculum. The Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing was held at the On Semiconductor Philippines facility at the Mactan Export Processing Zone on February 13, 2026.

The event was attended by Mr. Raymund Canalita, Supply Chain and IE Manager; Ms. Arlene Lim, Corporate Program Manager; Mr. Nickjohn Babatuon, School Head of BNHS–Senior High School; Mrs. Ma. Teresita Wahing, Assistant School Head; Mrs. Mischel Abuton, Master Teacher and TVL Coordinator; and Mr. Victor S. Recana III, Master Teacher and ALS School Focal Person.

Project LIFT aims to strengthen the academic credentials of employee-learners and expand their opportunities for career advancement and further education. The pilot batch consists of 22 enrollees, all of whom are long-term employees of the company with more than 30 years of service.

Mr. Victor S. Recana III, ALS School Focal Person, shared that the initiative is planned for replication across more than 200 company locators within the Mactan Export Processing Zone to broaden access to workplace-based Senior High School education. Mr. Nickjohn Babatuon emphasized that the program seeks to provide an alternative pathway to earning a Senior High School diploma without compromising educational quality by integrating and recognizing relevant workplace training while allowing learners to continue their employment.
