𝗔𝗡𝗡𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗖𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧 | RECALLING AND RESCINDING OF EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 49, SERIES OF 2026

The previously issued Executive Order No. 49, Series of 2026, suspending classes and work for teaching and non-teaching personnel in all public and private schools in the Municipality of Laoang on October 5, 2026, in observance of World Teachers’ Day, is hereby recalled and rescinded.

𝗔 𝗠𝗘𝗦𝗦𝗔𝗚𝗘 𝗧𝗢 𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗗𝗘𝗔𝗥 𝗧𝗘𝗔𝗖𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗦 𝗢𝗙 𝗟𝗔𝗢𝗔𝗡𝗚

To all our beloved teachers and education personnel of Laoang:

I would like to personally explain the reason behind my decision to recall the Executive Order I previously issued suspending classes and school work on October 5, 2026, in celebration of World Teachers’ Day.

Let me make this very clear: I did not recall the Executive Order because I do not value our teachers or because I do not want you to have time to celebrate your special day.

On the contrary, as your Municipal Mayor, I fully recognize the sacrifices, dedication, and countless hours our teachers give in educating and shaping the future of our children. My original intention in issuing the suspension was simply to give our teachers and school personnel time to rest, celebrate, and enjoy World Teachers’ Day with their colleagues, families, and loved ones.

However, upon a more careful review of the applicable Department of Education rules and policies, particularly DepEd Order No. 037, s. 2022, I realized that the authority and circumstances for the suspension of classes and school work must be exercised within the parameters prescribed by the Department of Education.

Since World Teachers’ Day is a celebration and not a disaster or calamity, I do not want the Municipality to issue or maintain an order that may later be viewed as inconsistent with the governing DepEd rules.

For this reason, I chose to do what I believe is legally and administratively proper and recalled the previous Executive Order.

Please do not take this decision as a lack of appreciation. Nothing could be farther from the truth.

My respect and gratitude for our teachers remain unwavering. If anything, this decision was made precisely because I want every action of the Municipal Government to be responsible, lawful, and respectful of the policies governing our schools.
