Wow! LGMNDS the Game Changers! 🥳🫡👏

The Legal Minds Society continues to establish its presence on the NWU map through the achievements of its pioneering members. Setting a high standard are four individuals who now hold significant positions within the Ferdinand E. Marcos Academic Society (FEMAS) of the NWU College of Law for AY 2024-2025

At the forefront is Ms. Melrose C. Llacuna, a fourth-year Juris Doctor student and the newly elected President of FEMAS. Joining her on the FEMAS Executive Committee are Marvien Llamas, serving as Secretary, Bea Bianca Balalio as Auditor, and Jezreel Larry Caunca as Public Relations Officer—all of whom are second-year Juris Doctor students.

LGLMNDS in Action! 🫡

On July 11, 2024, the Office of the Student Affairs (OSA) in collaboration with the Legal Office of the Northwestern University organized an echo seminar on Mediation and Alternative Dispute Resolution. The seminar was attended by the representatives from the various administrative departments of the university.

This seminar stemmed from a prior workshop on alternative dispute resolution that was conducted by the Office of Alternative Dispute Resolution (OADR) and CHEDRO1 in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur.

The echo seminar was divided into different topics on mediation and alternative dispute resolution, tapping LGLMNDS President Jocelyn Llamas-Julian and Managing Officer Melrose C. Llacuna as the resource speakers.

The echo seminar gave emphasis to the importance of capacitating the university’s administrative personnel in mediation. By focusing on mediation and ADR training tailored to the academic environment, administrative personnel can better handle disputes within educational institutions, fostering a fair and harmonious atmosphere conducive to learning and growth.

It’s Official! Legal Minds Society is now an accredited and recognized student organization at Northwestern University!

Together with other official organizations of the Northwestern University, the officers took their oath last September 27, 2024

Legal Minds “LGLMNDS” is now the official organization of law students and law enthusiasts at NWU. The organization was borne out of the objective to create an inclusive community for law students and law enthusiasts. It is geared at bridging gaps in expressing the love for law, hence, opening their membership not only for law students but even for undergraduate students who have the desire to be more legally equipped and have the innate curiosity to learn more about the law.

LGLMNDS is led by one of its founding members, Ms. Jocelyn R. Llamas-Julian, a fourth year Juris Doctor student.

During the event, the newly appointed officers pledged to uphold the values of the organization as well as of the University, promising to serve with integrity, diligence, and a commitment to the legal community.
