Same rival. Same result. Same champion.

History repeated itself as Rameses Antonio successfully defended his title, sweeping Mjay Tumamao, 5-1, to claim the back-to-back gold for men's lawn tennis-single A held at FEM stadium, August 11.

The match began in a back-and-forth exchange, with both players unleashing explosive attacks and refusing to back down early. However, Antonio adjusted his pace, countering his opponent's attacks and breaking through his defense, taking the early lead of the game.

Tumamao, fueled by a desire for redemption, fought back relentlessly, forcing the match into a deadlock, 1-1.

Refusing to back down, Antonio held his ground, neutralizing every attack with unstoppable defense and unpredictable strokes, shifting the momentum in his favor.

As Antonio maintained his momentum, Tumamao's defense crumbled, leaving him vulnerable against his relentless opponent. Unable to withstand Antonio's explosive attacks, Tumamao eventually fell short, bringing the match to an end.

"It feels really special, especially since this is my last playing year. I’ve practiced for that exact moment, and I can proudly say I’m more confident now than I was last year." Antonio stated.

Despite Tumamao’s efforts to mount a comeback, Antonio remained composed and in control until the final point, claiming the gold for SECO while Tumamao earned the silver medal. Completing the podium is Kurt John Baliza of Freshman Class Organization (FCO), who settled for the bronze medal.

In a highly anticipated rematch, Rhodney Antonio of Junior Class Organization once again defeated his determined opponent Jyan Agapay of Senior Class Organization, successfully defending his title for the second consecutive year, 6-1, in men's lawn tennis-single b held at FEM stadium, August 11.

From the opening serve, Antonio immediately attacked with aggressive shots, forcing Agapay to withstand the early pressure. SECO’s Agapay kept pace, showcasing tactical play to counter
Antonio’s powerful shots, but JCO’s impenetrable defense and punishing attacks proved difficult to break, allowing Antonio to seize the early lead.

As the match progressed, relentless Agapay remained composed, patiently searching for an opening, but Antonio's keen anticipation stifled Agapay's attacks, leaving him trailing behind.

With the victory within reach, Antonio unleashed unstoppable shots and aggressive strokes, breaking through his opponent's defense, cementing the first gold for JCO.

After a tense showdown, JCO's Antonio secured his two-year streak, claiming the gold while SECO's Agapay settled for the silver medal. Completing the podium was Kenneth John Tunod of Freshman Class Organization, who secured bronze.

In a display of grit and precision, the match showcased the player's strength and determination, carrying the pride of their respective organizations with every point.

𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐄𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐍𝐎𝐖 | The CTE Bulletin formally opened its doors to aspiring campus journalists in the College as the first phase of the in-person screening commenced at the CTE Library today, August 19.

The screening aims to welcome new staff members into the publication's various sections and provide opportunities for students to develop and showcase their journalistic skills.

The Mariano Marcos State University–College of Teacher Education (MMSU-CTE) is set to hold its annual Intramurals on September 7 and 8, 2026, as the college aims to defend its championship title from the previous University Games (UniGames).

Split into 2 days, the event will kick off with an opening program featuring the opening parade and the lighting of the ceremonial urn, officially marking the start of the competition.

Students are expected to compete in various events, including ball games, athletics, cultural events, and literary arts, showcasing their skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

With the Rabbis seeking to retain their winning streak, participating teams are expected to bring determination, teamwork, and grit as they compete for supremacy. Each match, performance, and event will serve as an opportunity for athletes and participants to represent their respective teams and contribute to their college's pursuit of victory.

As the defending champions prepare to protect their title and challengers look to make their mark, all eyes will be on the upcoming competition as MMSU-CTE's Intramurals 2026 unfolds.
