On 19 September 2026, selected MS1 cadets of the Data Center College of the Philippines (DCCP) Laoag City ROTC Unit, accompanied by the Advance Officers, took part in a Coastal Clean-Up Drive at Barangay Gabu Sur, Laoag City, Ilocos Norte. The activity served as an avenue for the cadets to contribute to environmental preservation while strengthening their sense of civic responsibility and commitment to community service.

The coastal clean-up drive highlighted the importance of collective action in protecting our coastal areas and maintaining a clean and sustainable environment. Through their active participation, the cadets demonstrated that volunteerism goes beyond fulfilling a responsibilityโ€”it is a meaningful expression of discipline, cooperation, and concern for the community. Their efforts reflected the value of working together in addressing environmental concerns and promoting awareness among the people they serve.

The activity was conducted under the supervision of LTC PEDRO A DACANAY JR. (INF) PA, Director of the 101st Community Defense Center (101CDC) and Commandant of the DCCP ROTC Unit. With the guidance of the Advance Officers and the supervision of the training leadership, the cadets displayed initiative, teamwork, and dedication throughout the engagement, embodying the spirit of service and volunteerism that remains an essential part of ROTC training.

The DCCP ROTC Unit conducted its 6th Training Day on September 13, 2026, at the DCCP Gymnasium, with MS1 Cadets participating in a series of activities focused on strengthening their foundational military competencies.

The dayโ€™s activities commenced at 0700H with Basic Drills and Ceremonies, providing the cadets with practical training on the proper ex*****on of prescribed movements and formations.

The practical training was complemented by two instructional lectures addressing essential areas of military training.

2LT MARVIN F TORRES (FE) PA facilitated the discussion on Basic Unit Formation and Basic Formation Techniques, introducing the cadets to the fundamental principles involved in organizing and positioning personnel during formations. This was followed by Basic Weapons Training, delivered by PFC MARK A VIOLA (INF) PA, which provided the cadets with introductory knowledge relevant to weapons training and its role in military preparedness.

LAOAG CITY, ILOCOS NORTE โ€“ On 101400 September 2026, personnel of Headquarters, 101st Community Defense Center (101CDC), under the supervision of LTC PEDRO A DACANAY JR (INF) PA, participated in the 3rd Quarter CY 2026 National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) held at Headquarters, 101CDC, Camp Valentin S. Juan, Laoag City, Ilocos Norte.

The activity was conducted to enhance the personnelโ€™s preparedness, awareness, and response capabilities in response to an earthquake and other related emergencies. It also provided an opportunity for personnel to practice appropriate emergency procedures and strengthen their readiness to respond effectively during disaster situations.

The conduct of the NSED highlights the Philippine Armyโ€™s continuing commitment to strengthening disaster preparedness and promoting a culture of safety and resilience among its personnel and the communities it serves.

The DCCP ROTC Unit conducted its 5th Training Day of the 1st Semester on September 6, 2026, at the DCCP Gymnasium, with the participation of all MS1 Cadets.

The training commenced with Basic Drills and Ceremonies, reinforcing discipline, coordination, and proper ex*****on of fundamental movements. This was followed by a lecture on Map Reading and Land Navigation, facilitated by CPL EDWIN A BAMO JR (INF) PA. The lecture provided the cadets with essential knowledge in interpreting maps, determining direction, and understanding basic land navigation principles. The activity further developed their practical understanding of navigation while cultivating attentiveness, accuracy, and readiness in training.

LOOKII 500CEB Empowers ROTC Cadets, Inspires Future Leaders.

September 6, 2026 โ€“ The 500th Combat Engineer Battalion, Combat Engineer Regiment, Philippine Army, conducted lectures for the Advance ROTC cadets of the Data Center College of the Philippines (DCCP), Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, aimed at enhancing their knowledge, skills, and appreciation of military service and leadership.

The lectures covered essential topics including military training, basic lifesaving skills, discipline, leadership, teamwork, and the value of service to the nation. The activity provided the cadets with practical knowledge and insights that can help develop their confidence, sense of responsibility, and readiness to perform their duties as future members of the reserve force and responsible citizens.

Beyond military instruction, the engagement reinforced the strong partnership between the Philippine Army and the academic community in fostering youth development and cultivating the next generation of leaders.
