support the celebration of ZERO WASTE MONTH 2025🍃
As mandated by Presidential Proclamation No. 760, dated May 5, 2014, January is the celebration of Zero Waste Month. 2025 also marks the 24th Signing Anniversary of RA 9003, also known as the Ecological Solid Waste Management of 2000 with the theme, "Integrating Sustainability and Circularity into the Informal Waste Sector". ♻️
The theme highlights the cooperation and collaboration of the informal, private, and public sectors to encourage partnerships supporting resource recovery, not just for plastics but all types of solid waste.
The informal waste sector is vital in waste diversion in the Philippines. These individuals, families, groups, or small enterprises recover waste materials, driven by revenue generation. Their work significantly reduces waste management costs for municipal governments and taxpayers. However, the informal waste sector faces several challenges, including a lack of LGU support, limited access to sanitary landfills, and health and safety risks.
Integrating sustainability and circularity principles can improve the informal waste sector by:
🟢𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
🟢𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐬
🟢𝐑𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐞𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭
🟢𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐝𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐥 𝐰𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐬
Let us kick off 2025 with Zero Waste Month! ♻️🗑️
