LAOAG CITY — Northwestern University (NWU), through the Vedasto J. Samonte School of Graduate Studies (VJSSGS) and the Office of the Vice President for Research, Community, Social Development, and Internationalization (RCSDI), successfully participated as co-partners in the International Multidisciplinary Research Colloquium (IMRC) 2026.

The event, themed "Futurasia 2026: Bridging Continents, Forging Sustainable Futures," organized by Department of Economics and Business Administration CEBA, UTAS Shinas OMAN took place on January 29, 2026, via Microsoft Teams. The virtual gathering saw a massive turnout of more than 400 scholars from Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) across the globe.

The initiative was led by Prof. Dr. Eric S. Parilla, VP for RCSDI, who served as the institutional focal person, and Dr. Juan Jobelle S. Acosta, Dean of VJSSGS, who acted as the Session Chair. NWU President Atty. Ferdinand S. Nicolas delivered a welcome message, joining other international institutional partners in opening the prestigious academic exchange.

A highlight of the colloquium was the presentation of research by nine NWU Graduate School students, whose work covered diverse disciplines aimed at sustainable development.

The featured presenters and their research titles included:

* Mark Anthony L. Bulong (EdD): CoMICS Exemplar in Biological Sciences Instruction.
* Jonas Jr. C. Bisac (MaED-Edm): Informational Resources on Education Service Contracting for Parents.
* Clarissa P. Pascual (MaEd-Edm): Enriched Guide for School Learning Action Cell.
* Charmagne U. Acebuque (MAN): First-Time Mothers’ Guide to RA 10028.
* Leofel F. Fernandez (MAN): Raising Twins in Harmony.
* Patrick John T. Ratuita (MAPA): Informative Documentary Video on Blood Donation: A Tool to Civic Consciousness.
* Paul Benedict Redulme Parado (MSCJ): Information Guide for the Promotion of Police Response Outpost for Traffic Enforcement and Concerns of Tourist (PROTECT) Box in Ilocos Norte.
* Marie Angeli F. Peñaflor (MSME): Water Hyacinth Fiber Geotextile Mat for Soil Slope Protection.
* Philipp Agtarap (MBA): Beyond Clicks and Modules: Evaluating Canvas LMS Adoption and its Impact on Teaching and Learning at Northwestern University.

The successful participation of these scholars underscores NWU’s commitment to fostering international research collaborations and contributing to global academic discourse.

Northwestern University Earns Level IV Accreditation for Two Graduate Programs

Northwestern University proudly announces that its Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Arts in Public Administration (MAPA) programs have been granted Level IV Accredited Status by the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA), Inc.

PACUCOA has endorsed this Level IV accreditation to the Federation of Accrediting Agencies of the Philippines (FAAP) for formal recognition, covering the period from March 2025 to March 2030.

Level IV is the highest accreditation level, reflecting excellence in instruction, research, institutional leadership, and community engagement. It also signifies national and international recognition and a strong commitment to continuous quality improvement.

This remarkable achievement is a result of the collective efforts of the NWU community—administrators, faculty, staff, students, and alumni—who continue to uphold the university’s standard of excellence.
