The Natural Sciences faculty and students of Northwestern University gathered for a meaningful consultation meeting focused on the improvement of the BS Biology program. This event served as a platform for open dialogue, idea sharing, and collaboration that strengthened our commitment to academic growth and excellence.

Heartfelt gratitude to Prof. Herbert Caballero, a Master of Occupational Health and Safety Management (MOHSM) from Western Sydney University and an adjunct professor of the Natural Sciences Department for leading the discussion with valuable insights and guidance. We also extend our sincere thanks to the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, Dr. Yolanda S. Lao, Dr. Noel Lahip, and the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Charliemane A. Bullalayao for their unwavering support and encouragement. 💚✨

🧬 The BS Biology 3rd Year students presented their insights and findings from their (𝘋𝘳𝘰𝘴𝘰𝘱𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘢 𝘮𝘦𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘰𝘨𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳) experiments as part of their Genetics course under the supervision of Prof. Herbert Caballero, MOHSM. Conducted through home-based experimental setups, this activity aimed to strengthen their understanding of Mendelian inheritance and genetic principles through hands-on observation and analysis. 🔬

As a culminating output, the students showcased their scientific posters highlighting their results, interpretations, and reflections on the inheritance patterns observed in Fruit fly (𝘋𝘳𝘰𝘴𝘰𝘱𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘢 𝘮𝘦𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘰𝘨𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳). This academic endeavor fostered research competence, analytical thinking, and scientific communication—embodying NWU’s pursuit of excellence in biological sciences. 🌱✨

It is with heartfelt sorrow that we remember Ma’am Dolly Chriz D. Castro, a devoted educator, a gentle guide, and a mother figure to all of us in HIBE.

Ma’am Dolly was more than just a teacher. She was a quiet strength in our lives, a steady hand who guided us with kindness, patience, and unwavering care. To her students, she was not only a mentor but truly a second mother, one who listened, supported, and believed in us even when we doubted ourselves.

Her dedication to teaching and her compassion for each student created a space where we felt seen, safe, and valued. She nurtured not only minds but hearts, helping shape not just who we are as students but who we are as people.

Though her absence leaves a deep void, her memory and the love she shared will forever live on in our hearts.
