Effective October 5, 2026, Northwestern University will strictly implement the “NO GATE PASS, NO ENTRY” policy.

The University Gate Pass serves as an important measure for campus access, identification, and security. It helps promote the safety and orderly management of students, faculty, staff, visitors, and vehicles entering the university.

Powering a Sustainable Future

August 14, 2026 marks a significant milestone for Northwestern University as it officially inaugurates its Electric Vehicle Charging Station, The first facility of its kind within a university campus in Ilocos Norte.

Under the leadership of University President Atty. Ferdinand S. Nicolas, this initiative reflects NWU’s continuing commitment to innovation, sustainability, and responsible development.

A true collaboration project between the University, through coordination made by the Office of the Vice President for Administratioin, and Busilac Builders Inc., the project demonstrates what can be achieved when institutions work together toward a common vision.

What makes this project even more remarkable is that 70–80% of the materials used were sourced from scrap and reclaimed materials, including materials recovered from bridges and demolished buildings. Turning what was once considered waste into infrastructure for a cleaner future is a powerful example of sustainable engineering in action.

The inauguration was highlighted by a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by members of the NWU Administration, with DOST Provincial Director Engr. Brian U. Rasco joining the celebration.

This initiative supports the University's commitment to SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy and SDG 13: Climate Action proving that progress doesn't always mean building new, but sometimes means giving old materials a new purpose.

LOOK: The Vice President for Administration, Asst. Prof. Karl Lenin C Benigno, successfully represented Director Christopher Ching Viloria of the Center for and Information Communication Technology (CICT) at the opening ceremony of National Hospital Week today, organized by the Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center (MMMH&MC) at Robinsons Place Ilocos, San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte.

​As Director Viloria was attending an equally vital official engagement in Manila, the Vice President for Administration stepped in to deliver the message, alignment, and support for this year's crucial theme: “Juan Health for Juanation: Makabagong teknolohiya sa ospital na mapagkalinga.”

​The event underscored the critical integration of modern technological advancements with compassionate public healthcare. The Vice President for Administration remains steadfast in supporting initiatives that champion innovation, efficiency, and responsive care for the community.

Stay Sharp, Stay Safe: Northwestern University Strengthens Campus Readiness through Ridam 2.0

Northwestern University reaffirmed its commitment to campus safety and disaster preparedness through the successful conduct of Ridam 2.0, the University's enhanced Risk Reduction and Disaster Management program. Led by the Office of the Vice President for Administration under Prof. Karl Lenin Benigno, the initiative brought together the Security Group, Office of Student Affairs, College of Criminal Justice Education, College of Allied Health Sciences, Physical Planning and Development Office, Medical and Dental Clinic, Supreme Student Council, student media organizations, and the Basic Education Department in a unified effort to promote a culture of preparedness and resilience.

The activity featured a realistic emergency response drill designed to strengthen the capacity of campus responders and provide stakeholders with a genuine emergency experience. More than a simulation, the exercise tested the effectiveness of the University's Incident Command Protocol, particularly its command structure, communication, coordination, and resource mobilization during crisis situations. The operation was led by Leo Navasca, Chairman of the University's Disaster Task Force, who served as Incident Commander, directing response teams through a scenario that reflected the challenges and demands of actual rescue operations.

Ridam 2.0 demonstrates Northwestern University's commitment to continuously enhancing its emergency management capabilities and ensuring that every Northwesternian is prepared to respond when emergencies occur. Through regular training, realistic drills, and a coordinated response system, the University continues to build a resilient campus where safety, readiness, and shared responsibility remain at the heart of its mission.
