Today, Northwestern University received two (2) additional buses as part of its fleet modernization program. The ceremonial turnover of the units was attended by students and university personnel, with Prof. Karl Lenin Benigno, Vice President for Administration, and Dr. Charliemane Bullalayao, Vice President for Academic Affairs, representing the university.

These two brand-new buses complete the planned acquisition of four (4) units under the university’s fleet modernization initiative. The buses have been evaluated to ensure that their technology complies with the Euro 5 emission standard, supporting more efficient and environmentally responsible transportation for the university community.

Look! Prof. Karl Lenin C. Benigno, Vice President for Administration, led the turnover ceremony of the newly retrofitted Basic Education Department comfort rooms to the management of the Department. Present at the ceremony were Prof. Mildred Chan, Head of Senior High School, the adviser and officers of the Student Council, representatives from Busilac, Inc., and personnel from the Physical Planning and Development Office.

This initiative is part of the university’s ongoing program to retrofit all campus comfort rooms, ensuring quality facilities and services for both students and personnel.

Northwestern University aims to achieve a reduced carbon footprint by 2032 by shifting to clean and green energy sources. A key milestone in this effort is the success of the solar energy program at the NUEBG, Payas, San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte, which is on track to achieving a 100% clean energy source. This initiative demonstrates the university’s commitment to sustainability and renewable energy solutions. Additionally, the university is completing the installation of the second phase of its campus street solar lighting, further enhancing energy efficiency and promoting a greener campus environment.

Key members of Northwestern University’s staff recently attended a seminar on Urban Pest Management, specifically designed for Certified Pesticide Applicators, held in Malate, Manila, from August 21-23, 2024. The event brought together participants from various organizations, including Entotox Public Health, Qatar Co LLC, and several pest control services.

Representing NWU at the seminar were PPDO chief Nelson Alagao, along with Glen del Amen and JP Calucag. Their participation highlights NWU's dedication to advancing professional knowledge in public health and safety.

The seminar was led by Mr. Roque G. Tibor, Jr., RA, a Safety Officer (SO) and Pollution Control Officer (PCO), with support from Mr. Marlon Jolampong, NCUPC Technical Staff. This specialized training provided valuable insights for certified pesticide applicators.

Another project finished. The Vice President for Administration, along with PPDO officials, attended the handover ceremony for two completed outdoor comfort rooms. The university's infrastructure development program will include the construction of six (6) outdoor comfort rooms. The President and engineers of Busilac Builders, the project's contractor, are also present at the handover.

Early this morning, the Vice President for Administration and personnel from the PPDO, led by Mr. Nelson Alagao, conducted a site inspection at the NUEBG. The inspection aimed to assess the damage to the botanical garden museum caused by persistent rain in the province.
