With the theme “Mapanagutang Pilipino: Paghubog ng Kabataang may Dangal, Paggalang, at Pananagutan Tungo sa Pagharap sa mga Makabagong Hamon ng Panahon,” the Values Educators’ Club joyfully celebrated Filipino Values Month 2025 last November 7, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

The event served as a meaningful reminder of the essence of Filipino values in navigating life’s modern challenges. As Ms. Angelica L. Abella, Values Education Faculty and Guidance Associate, highlighted in her inspiring message, “Sa hamon ng buhay, hindi always pagalingan, hindi always pataasan. There is humility—there are values that you need to embody in order for you to surpass the challenge.”

Her words resonated deeply with the participants, inspiring them to embrace accountability, respect, and integrity as guiding principles in overcoming life’s trials. Truly, the celebration became a moment of reflection and renewal, nurturing responsible, respectful, and dignified youth ready to uphold the values that define the Filipino spirit.

He is currently at Universitas Pakuan, Indonesia, undertaking his Field Study and immersing himself in a cross-cultural teaching and learning experience.

This international engagement marks another significant step for the program in nurturing globally competent and values-driven educators. May you inspire others as you learn, carry our values with pride, and return with experiences that will further shape you into an even greater educator. Shine, explore, and make your mark!

The Values Education Program joined the learning session “Theory to Practice: Learning from the Best Classroom-Based Action Researchers,” spearheaded by the Secondary Education Department, held on November 5, 2025.

The event featured the best Classroom-Based Action Research (CBAR) studies from the six programs of the department — English, Science, Mathematics, Filipino, Social Studies, and Values Education — showcasing exemplary studies that bridge theory and practice in the teaching profession.

Representing the Values Education Program are the Best CBAR Awardees from the Batch of 2024, composed of Mr. Ronie R. Bagalaro Jr., Mr. Kit Owen M. Corpuz, and Ms. Julie Ann C. Turingan, under the guidance of their adviser Prof. James Cesar A. Metiam. Their study, “Elevating the Grade 10 Students’ Higher Order Thinking Skills in Values Education through SOLO-Based Approach,” explored strategies for enhancing students’ critical and reflective thinking skills in the classroom. The presenters shared the results of their study, best practices, useful tips, and challenges encountered throughout their research journey.

One of the objectives of the session was to inspire the current Field Study students to pursue their own research journey with commitment and purpose. The presentation highlighted classroom-based research as a meaningful avenue for improving instruction, promoting reflection, and enhancing professional growth among future educators.

The Sentro ng Wika at Kultura successfully initiated the program “Halina, Umaykan!: Kasanayan sa Wika at Kultura para sa mga Internasyonal na Mag-aaral,” a cultural and language class designed to promote appreciation and understanding of the Filipino and Ilokano languages and culture.

This meaningful initiative brought together various student organizations, including the Values Educators’ Club, who joined other facilitating clubs and organizations in welcoming and engaging with eight Southeast Asian Teacher (SEA Teacher) participants. Representing Universitas Mulawarman, Indonesia, were Inggrit Tiara Nuari, Kasyuri Zuttauli, Sumarni, and Syafa’ Aurora Irvanto, while Trần Thuý Duy, Phan Nhật Phát, Lê Hồng Mi, and Nguyễn Xuân An participated from D**g Thap University, Vietnam.

Throughout Modules 1 to 4, the participants explored various aspects of Filipino and Ilokano communication, traditions, and cultural expressions. The Values Educators’ Club facilitated interactive learning experiences that not only enhanced the SEA Teachers’ language skills but also fostered friendships and cross-cultural understanding.

The Values Educators’ Club expressed heartfelt gratitude for being part of such a meaningful initiative. The Halina, Umaykan! program stands as a meaningful avenue for cultural exchange, embodying the spirit of collaboration, mutual respect, and unity through language and culture.
