I don’t want to cause you pain—

This isn’t about revenge. It’s not about an eye for an eye, or making you suffer just to balance some invisible scale. That kind of hollow retaliation doesn’t interest me. It doesn’t heal. It only continues the cycle, and I am too tired, too worn from carrying this weight, to want to pass it back to you.

I just wish you could feel mine for a moment,

Not forever. Not even for a day. Just a single, breathless moment. I wish you could step inside this skin, inside this chest that sometimes feels too tight to hold everything. I wish you could feel the echo of the words you said that didn’t seem like much to you, but landed here like a stone, sinking to the bottom of everything. I wish you could feel the chill of the silence you left, the emptiness where your presence was supposed to be, the ache of a trust that was bent until it snapped.

so you’d finally understand the weight of what you did.

Because from where you stand, it probably looked like nothing. A small oversight. A busy schedule. A harsh word spoken in a moment of stress. A promise forgotten. From your perspective, it was likely a pebble—something you barely noticed dropping.

But you didn’t see the landslide it started inside of me. You didn’t see the cascade of doubt, the erosion of my peace, the way it buried parts of me I’m still trying to dig out. You don’t understand that what was a pebble in your hand became a boulder on my back.

If you could feel it, just once, you wouldn’t need my explanation. You wouldn’t need me to justify my tears or defend my distance. You would know. You would look at me and finally see not a person who is "overreacting," but a person who is reacting to a very real, very heavy injury.

This isn’t a wish for your suffering. It’s a wish for your understanding. It’s the desperate hope that a bridge of empathy could be built, just for a second, so you could look across and truly see the wreckage on this side. So you could comprehend that the pain you’re so keen to avoid hearing about is the very same pain I have been living with, breathing in, and surviving every day since.

And maybe, just maybe, if you understood the weight, you would finally stop asking me why I can’t just let it go.

"Manipulation is when they blame you for your reaction to their disrespect."
It’s one of the most toxic forms of emotional control — a way of twisting reality until you start to doubt your own feelings, memories, and worth. They’ll cross a line, hurt you, or speak to you with disrespect, and when you finally stand up for yourself, they’ll act like you’re the problem. Suddenly, your pain becomes an overreaction, your silence becomes immaturity, and your boundaries become “attitude.”
Manipulators thrive on confusion. They want you to believe that your natural response to being mistreated is unreasonable — because if you start questioning your emotions, you become easier to control. They’ll rewrite the story until you’re the villain in a situation they created.
But here’s the truth: your emotions are valid. Your reactions are human. When someone disrespects you, you have every right to speak up, to distance yourself, or to walk away. Refusing to accept mistreatment is not overreacting — it’s self-preservation.
Never let anyone convince you that your awareness is the problem. Recognizing manipulation is the first step toward freeing yourself from it. The moment you stop accepting blame for someone else’s disrespect, you take your power back — and that’s where real healing begins.

What is baiting.Baiting is when a toxic person purposely does or says something that they know will hurt or upset you. It is usually some rude or cruel comment or remark, or a condescending remark. It is done to provoke some kind of reaction out of you, make you feel inferior, or to start drama and an argument. Never take the bait from a toxic person who does this. They are highly controlling, and often subtlety abusive. They have no concern for how they make others feel, and according to them, hurting someone else is never their fault. It will be your fault for reacting.

The goal of baiting is to gain power and control over the other person. By provoking a reaction, the toxic person can manipulate the situation and dictate the emotional tone. It's a form of emotional manipulation, and it can be incredibly damaging. When someone is baiting you, it's essential to recognize what's happening and not engage. Responding to the bait can lead to a cycle of escalation, with both parties becoming increasingly agitated and hurtful.

Instead, it's crucial to maintain your composure and not take the bait. This can be challenging, especially if the person is pushing your buttons or making personal attacks. However, by staying calm and not reacting, you're taking away the toxic person's power. You're showing them that you won't engage in their game, and that you're not willing to be manipulated.
