Ifugao State University ROTC Unit Honor. Patriotism. Duty. ROTC aims to provide military education and training for students to mobilize them for national defense preparedness.

Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) in the Philippines is one of three components of the National Service Training Program, the civic education and defense preparedness program for Filipino college students. Its specific objectives include preparation of college students for service in the Armed Forces of the Philippines in the event of an emergency and their training to become reservists and potential commissioned officers of the AFP.

On 12 September 2026, under the supervision of the Graduate Military Assistants (GMAs) and ROTC Alumni, together with the IFSU ROTC Unit cadet officers led by C/LTC RAVEN ACE G BUTANGON 1CL, Corps Commander, the Ninth Training Day was successfully conducted at the Open Gymnasium, Ifugao State Universityโ€“Lamut Campus, Nayon, Lamut, Ifugao.

The activity commenced with a mass formation and checking of attendance of the Basic Cadets, ensuring discipline, accountability, and proper bearing prior to the conduct of the dayโ€™s activities.

Afterwards, personnel from the 54th Infantry Battalion (54th IBn), 5th Infantry Division, Philippine Army, led by 1LT JUNRINE I TACLOB (INF) PA, together with SSg JUN PHILIP UNGAB (INF) PA, PFC IRINE JOY BACCAY (INF) PA, and PFC MA. DIVINE GRACE R DE LEON (INF) PA, conducted a lecture on the West Philippine Sea, highlighting the Philippinesโ€™ maritime rights under Republic Act No. 12064, or the Philippine Maritime Zones Act, and the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

This was followed by a Video Teleconference (VTC) in connection with the 47th National Reservist Month Culmination Ceremony, which highlighted the vital role of reservists as dependable partners in promoting peace, public order, disaster preparedness, and national resilience. The activity also emphasized the commitment of the Reserve Force to remain capable, responsive, and mission-ready in support of the Philippine Army and the nation.

The Ninth Training Day concluded successfully, providing the cadets with greater awareness of the West Philippine Sea, the Philippinesโ€™ maritime rights, and their responsibilities as future reserve officers, while further strengthening their discipline, preparedness, and sense of duty.

โ€ŽOn 05 September 2026, under the supervision of Sgt Michael John V Dandoy (Inf) PA, Training NCO, together with the Graduate Military Assistants (GMAs), ROTC Alumni, and IFSU ROTC Unit cadet officers led by C/LTC RAVEN ACE G BUTANGON 1CL, Corps Commander, the Eighth Training Day was conducted at the Open Gymnasium, Ifugao State Universityโ€“Lamut Campus, Nayon, Lamut, Ifugao.

โ€ŽThe activity formally started with a mass formation and checking of attendance of the basic cadets, ensuring discipline, accountability, and proper military bearing before the conduct of the day's activities. Afterwards, the basic cadets proceeded to the lecture area in preparation for the scheduled instruction.

โ€ŽDuring the training, personnel from the 54th Infantry Battalion (54th IBn), 5th Infantry Division, Philippine Army, conducted separate instructional sessions on Survival Technique 1 and weapons.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽFor the M16 R***e Familiarization, Cpl Ricky F Adchak (OS) PA served as the lecturer, with Cpl Solomon L Kilangan (Inf) PA assisting in the conduct of the session. The lecture provided the cadets with basic knowledge of the M16 r***e, including its parts, characteristics, capabilities, and proper safety procedures.

โ€ŽMeanwhile, PFC Dolphy O Abgao (Inf) PA together with Cpl Robert A Labuguin Jr (Inf) PA conducted the instruction on Survival Technique 1. The session included demonstrations on basic field survival skills, particularly the use of bamboo in demonstrating fire-making techniques and the construction of a temporary shelter. The practical demonstrations allowed the cadets to gain firsthand learning experiences on resourcefulness, preparedness, and adaptability in field environments.

The Seventh Training Day concluded successfully, providing the cadets with valuable knowledge and practical skills in emergency response while further strengthening their discipline, preparedness, and readiness as future reserve officers.
