PNP-Lamut Conducts School Visitation on Campus Safety and Violence Prevention
Philippine National Police (PNP) conducted a school visitation to raise awareness about the recent violent incidents occurring in schools.
Police Captain Alvaro Atiwag-Secligen, Acting Chief of Lamut, discussed the alarming cases of school violence, including the shooting incident at San Jose National High School in Tacloban City, which was reportedly linked to bullying.
He also shared practical survival strategies in the event of an active attacker or violent incident. Students and school personnel were advised to remember the three basic responses: Run, Hide, and Fight.
Police Senior Master Sergeant, Venus Mangaoang, talked about proper ways to address and report bullying incidents in school. She encouraged students to immediately report any form of bullying to their class adviser, guidance counselor, school principal, parents, any trusted adult or the PNP whenever necessary. To inspire the students to become responsible members of the school community, the police officer emphasized the statement, "I should be part of the solution and not the problem."
The visit served as an important initiative in strengthening students' awareness of campus safety, importance of preventing bullying, encouraging vigilance, and reinforcing the shared responsibility of maintaining a safe and secure learning environment.
